Alright, my email isnt working....so anyone who wants to put their two cents in, feel free:)

Its a question about sprit. Doug has talked to me in some minor detail about this but id love to know what the rest of you think.

First off, i am in no way comparing myself to those who have become SEALs. Those who are have been my Heros my entire life. But im wondering what you feel. Personally, ever since i was a kid and learned of them, i was out right awe struck. Kinda like jaw dropping passing out awe struck by the men that are SEALs. When i talk about them ppl laugh at my enthusiasm and love fort them.t they say, "why such enthusiasm for something im not in!" I DONT KNOW! i only know what i am told or read but ill never change the way i feel. I dont know what it is but somethign inside me has always told me DO IT! Nothing i have ever tried or thought of becoming inspires what i feel when i think of you men. U.S Navy SEALs. Damn you are all amazing to me. I finally made up my mind. If i never tried i would never let myself down. Im training with a friend now. After college its off to try, God willing, and God willing the Navy will let me.. When i was reading one post, i understood what some of you were trying to say....Is it worth it to be a SEAL 24/7/365. I only dream of it....you men actually live it. Wow. I just felt like asking thatsspirit thats with in you. Have you always had it. Then u let the NSW forge what was inside you into what you are now?

Just felt like praising you men.

Bless you SEALs, Bless all of the men and women who serve their country, militarily or not, so faithfully. I wish every American understood the sevice i believe you are doing so well.

Good luck!
-Matt

Matt-
I think i can relate to what your saying. I think SEALs are awesome. There is no one I look up to more than a Navy SEAL. People laugh at me when I tell them I want to be a SEAL. They either say "I wont make it" or "Iam signing my death certificate" but I dont care. Everyday I wake up, and the first thing that pops in my mind is becoming a SEAL. Every night before I go to sleep, the last thing I think about is becoming a SEAL. I have never been motivated for anything in my life than becoming a SEAL. Just my two cents. When you get to BUDs, I wish you the best of luck.

Matt,
A quick comment: you will leave BUD/S only with what you take there in the first place (aside from a lot of sand in all your uniforms, an unequaled sense of teamwork, and some good physical conditioning. The best way I can describe it is this: provided you do not quit, they (the instructors) take a big flashlight and shine it in one ear, and show you all the good stuff that's inside of you. They will provide some of the incentive, but you have to provide the motivation and drive. If you make it to graduation, it is a reflection on your personal strength and constitution, as well as the motivation and peer pressure among your classmates, NOT something the instructors beat into you. The instructors will point the direction, but YOU are the one who has to run the distance. Hope this answers your question somewhat.

Elwood- I know that feeling. Iv long ago stop caring what ppl said. I know you dont either. So if you go to BUD/S i wish you the best of luck. Who knows maybe one of lifes ironies will be that we meet ;).

Chickenhawk- I would say that your saying that: in the end its going to be me and my spirit that will enable me to pass. Which makes perfect sense. That being the case, i would assume everyone else has the deep rooted spirit(*drive or what ever u like to call it) A personal question to you: That drive that it takes. Before you made it to the SEALs or even BUD/S, did you always have the desire deep down with in you? Kind of like its the only thing you truly want? What was it that made you want to complete BUD/S.:-D

Thanks in advance-

Matt
