Hi,
I just signed my gtep contract for combat contol in the air force. After I get through with the cct training I want to crosstrain and attend bud/s. I have always wanted to be a seal and in my opinion seals are the tip of the sword. I was wondering if what i am doing will give me a slight advantage because being in a seperate sf i should be in really good shape and mentally prepared. I was just looking for some advice from a seal who has an opinion about cct and crosstrain. have you ever worked with combat control and are the a good sf to join?
Thanx
Well...you are in for a long haul. If you wanted to be a SEAL, you should have tried to be a SEAL. I am sure you will have a good time in CCT, and the training is very good, you won't be happy if you go into it thinking it is second fiddle. You must remember that there are no superior special operations units...just superior special operations warriors. The SEALs as a rule, have a larger number of superior special operations warriors due to the intensity of the program - it attracts the best. Doesn't mean the other programs are not excellent as well. It is all the USA Special Operations Forces - we can go toe to toe with anyone in the world - including SAS, SBS, Kampfsimmers (SP?), Israelis and so on and so forth.
So - back to my point - if you want to be a SEAL - you have to try to be a SEAL and just do it. Do not become a CCT guy in the hopes that it will make you a better SEAL. You may never get there with that attitude / approach. Sometimes you have to grab the bull by the horns and just go for it.
Merry Christmas!

hey...
Man you dont sign up for CCT as a side job.. or sort of training.. they have one of the toughest pipelines in the military and attend an extensive lineup of schools... scuba, halo, airborne, air traffic controller.. more than likely you will find yourself out with the other SF units more than once.. Army, and I believe the SEALs also.. though I'm not sure.. these guys are no joke.. and in extremely good shape.. if you make them you should be proud enough and respectfull enough to stay with them for a while... truthfully I usually hear it the otherway... alot've Marine Corp Force Recon guys and Green Berets running through PJ and CCT training... well.. good luck.
