It seems everytime I`m on here I read a post from some girl talking about the diviorce rate for SEALS in the Navy. Maybe I`m looking at this wrong, but isnt there only around 2200 Navy SEALS in the Navy? Well if maybe 30 of them got divorced out of a hundred, wouldnt that be maybe 30%? If you look at the regular Navy Fleet and how many men get divorced in there, I bet it would be close to the same percent.

What I`m trying to say, is if the divorce rate for SEALS is 80%, but there is only about 2,200 SEALS so the rate is going to be higher in a smaller number group. I would almost bet that if you looked at the divorce rate in the regular Navy it would be close to the same.

A lot of couples are not cut out for Navy life, no matter if your in the Fleet, or a SEAL. People get divorced all the time that are not only in the Navy, but also in the Marines, Army and Air Force; amd even the Coast Gaurd!

I dont know were I`m really going with this, but I just thought I would put a little thought into the age old divorce rate debate. Maybe someone else has a better insight into this subject?

Magnetto66,

A research firm named Rand Institute has conducted a number of studies for the DOD. Some of the information concluded from the studies can help shed some light on WHY the divorce rate is so high in Armed Forces community.
For example, one of the main reasons for divorce in ANY marriage, whether military or civilian is finances. Rand conducted a study regarding financial management of military personnel and their spouses and found that to be a contributing factor to a lot of the stress and aggravation they go through. Again, just an example and not an implication of what EVERYONE who is/will be divorced goes through.
