How would someone who has high interest in becoming a Navy SEAL sort of prepare to become one? Especially if at a younger age? What to get involved in, and working out? Would playing paintball or war games have any effect? And playing or involving yourself in certain sports help? thanks

Getting involved with paintball and all is fun and exciting but a better one would be get involved with X country running teams and swim teams. They will provide the best base for BUD/S.

Another thing that will really help you is to follow the Navy Seal Workout Schedule on this site. I have been on it for 5 weeks now. IT'S GREAT!

I think the best things to get involved in are Wrestling, cross country/track, swim team, JROTC no matter what the branch, look into Naval Sea Cadets too. ( www.seacadets.org ) but as for things like going paintballing or shooting, although these things will not help you pass BUD/s they are more of a reward for your hard training and may give you an edge on further training as a SEAL.

Train hard, and never give up.

also if you have to opportunity to join a wrestling team that would help a lot. Learn how to take pain and how to dicipline yourself..

Painball or any of that crap won't do a thing. Anybody can learn the tecnical skills required to to the things SEALs do, but few have the mental toughness and personal self-discipline to learn the internal, intangible skills nedded to be a good operator. Running, swiming, and wrestleing are all great sports to prepare you for BUD/s but keep in mind that most people who make it through aren't primire athleats, they are just normal people who have the ability to stick with something. Oh, yea, me and my friends like to box the crap out of each other non-stop for a good hour or two. That really helps me along with swiming under water for as far as you can. And I also do X-country, Ice-Hockey, and Track, as well as SCUBA dive. BMX, DirtBike are my less related activities but help more with the tecnical stuff like hand eye cordination, and perciving risks while taking hard painfull, and surprising hits. and one more thing.
DO A LOT OF CALISTENICS (pushups, situps, dips) AND A LOT OF RUNNING. Other exercises are great but only running can prepare your lower extremities for the majority of the exercize at BUD/s.
