I have always wanted to be a NAVY SEAL, since i was 8. The only problem is that i am having a difficult time to motivate myself to get working out. Does anyone know the best way to do this with out hurting myself? I use to work out alot, but after my familiy moved i kind of just stopped. Please help, i don't want my life dream to be wasted. Also if you have any type of asthma, will that stop a person from joining?
thank you

if you want it bad enough youll make your self do it. i myself work out for fun but i also have days where i just dont feel like movin at all. thats when i pop in a movieabout the seals or/and watch the bud/s thing on the dicovery channel movies i ordered (which are great by the way) thats what i use for motivation. as far as wasting your life dream, i used to worry about losing interest in the teams back when i was in the sixth grade, and now im shiping off next summer with the same amount of adenaline pumping through my viens every time i think about getting to bud/s. hope this helps.

In every special forces unit in the world you have to have the ability to take a lot of mental and physical pain.
If you do not like the feeling of pain then your dream will just become a dream.

if you are truly dedicated to becoming a SEAL then it shouldnt be too hard to motivate yourself to do anything. Take a good long hard look at your self and truly decide whether or not you want this to be your life. You must be able to motivate yourself, because if you cant do it than your boat crew is not going to trust you. Think hard-is this what your really want?

Think of it this way: "The pain is your best friend, it tells you you`re not dead yet".
Also if you have any type of asthma, will that stop a person from joining?
This you should check out carefully, no fun sitting there with the signed contract wishing you didn`t!
Good luck

Hey, if you dont feel like workin out and you worked out the day before its ok,make it your day off and on the next day, make-up for what you didnt do the next time you workout. If this doesnt work, if the place where you life is warm and its day time, just stand out side for a while, its a jump start of gettin warmed up, see if that'le work, hope it works
good luck!

I would ask a SEAL recruiter this question and I would want the answer in writing. I have a friend who joined the Navy and when they did a medical background check, they found that once when he was sick he had asthma-like symptoms. He never developed asthma, but they refused to give him the position he wanted in the field because of his previous health "problems".
As was already said, you don't want a contract hanging over your head unless you're happy with it. Good luck,

You just moved, so perhaps that is why you have gotten out of your routine. It happens. Just recognize that the environment has changed and you need to adapt to it quickly. Doing that will help you in anything in life I think.
As for workout motivation, I have two suggestions (and for once I will be brief.)
1. Find out what is available in your area. Drive around and check out the local pools and workout clubs. Look for good running trails. Get a good idea of what resources are at your disposal and know where they are. This will mean you have no excuse not to work out, plus it will hopefully get you more excited. When I got out of college and moved, I lost a great set of places to work out and run, but here where I am now I have a 50 meter top of the line pool that beats what I had before. You may find you have even better places to work out than before. But there is only one way to find out...
2. Find a 2-3 day block of time where you have NOTHING planned that could interfere, and set a workout plan in advance. Do a little swimming in the morning, workout in the afternoon, and run in the evening. Or whatever your routine is. When you are done, think on how good it feels and how it gets you closer to your goal. With a good jumpstart like that, it will be easier to fit working out into your daily routine and new environment.
Hope this helps!

I find that working out and running with people greatly helps this problem. Find people
