is there today any lingering resentment of SEALs by the regular navy because SEALs get all the publicity, they may compete for funding with other navy projects, the attitude (real or imagined) of SEALs,etc. i know that in the army, alot of brass were opposed to spec op units like the lrrps. i don't know for sure, but i would assume some navy brass were against the formation of SEAL units when they were first being formed. thanx for any input...

That is a difficult question for those who performed at the level that most of us have.
Of course there is always that "feeling" about the group or person who gets most of the publicity. But speaking here as someone who did not take a general survey of the Fleet versus the SEALs I find myself not qualified to answer you on that aspect of your question.
How the Admirals feel about who gets what portion of the Navy Budget is again a topic that most of us are not privvy to becasue we are, or were not allowed into Admirals budgetary Staff meetings.
One can only assume that the natural envies come to the surface when persons of common or general service is compared to high publicity units.
