Not sure how to pose this question, so it will sound odd..
When sending a package towards the end of a deployment, is there a way to notate it so that it can be opened and used by the new team if the old team is gone by the time it gets there? :) Not anything major, I usually send goodies/snacks/magazines, but if it takes too long to get there, I'd just as soon it not go to waste, but I also hate to not send anything in the last month/s
I know there's no such thing as the 'any soldier', and there is the danger of receiving something from an unknown person, so if there's 'inside' info you have, please e-mail instead of posting?

You know stepmom, I remember on "R's" last deployment I asked a similar question and really what I was told is that it'd go back to the command. Not sure if that's really the case, but........
ps: How the heck are you?

Thanks....
I'm good, just crazy busy - all my 4 at home are in school now, and since I'm a stay at home mom, all I have time to do is sit around, eat bon-bons and watch soap operas!
Honestly, I hardly have time to sit & eat, much less turn on the tv! I'm taking a lunch break right now - though tomorrow I'll be at lunch with the kids - I have to learn to say no sometimes... :)

Stepmom,
I remeber when I was sending packages to my son the post office has an option of delivering it to the Chaplan if the package is not deliverable for other reasons. You can select this option at the PO.
The Chaplan will distribute it to the new team.

That's a good idea from xfleetguy although I've not tried that myself. I would also ask the ombudsman for your stepson's team (whose # the parents should definitely have during deployment). She'll either have, or can get, that current info since every transition seems to take on a life of its own. She could also get you info for the Group chaplain.

Good to hear from you and to hear that all is well. Yes, with the kids in school it's like you get a teeny tiny break, but then after they get home.....homework, sports, projects, etc.!!!
How's the boy doing? "R" is doing another work up right now so he's hardly EVER home! I think he might be home next weekend, but I start to lose track!
Later gator.

Oh yeah! I'd forgotten there is that option on the form you fill out. Good call mister! Thanks!
