Did the PM workout first....

250 yds swim: 3:00/4:00
1200 m run: 5:00/5:50

Swim felt good, took longer to warm up than i expected. The first set was the easiest. Second set had to focus more. It also didn't help that the pool was 85 degrees.

Run started out ok.... Did it on a dirt road that was level.

As Rx'd:

Time:19:01 mins.

Notes: First time doing overhead squats. Did not like them at all; torques my wrist alot. Runs were at sub 5:30 min/mi pace.

First real time doing overhead squats as well. I have a question for all you pros: on the Crossfit site they say your grip should be wide such that there is a bit of resistance in your shoulders when the bar goes too far back. If I follow this advice, my grip must be really wide, as I think by shoulder flexibility is pretty low. Is it okay to have a grip that is about six inches from each end of the bar for this exercise?

the best advice i can give is, short of being coached by a pro, do it where you are comfortable and safe while unfamiliar with the lift.

personally, my grip is pretty wide too.

Mine is wider also, I am a little older so my shoulder flex is not what it should be either. I can't get down as deep into a squat as I would like and the weight is still more toward my toes.

I scaled it back to 65 lbs.

The gym was so crowded that each time I went to run the 1/4 someone was in my spot. I gave up after two sets.

No second workout either, today was not my day for sure.

There is always tomorrow.

as rx'd 22 minutes flat... kind of weird but my overhead squats started to feel stronger at the end of the workout...probably just got used to the motion...also where are the AM/PM workouts coming from?

Depends on your wingspan. Bar will be between 6" and 12" above your head.. practice with a broomstick. There's a snatch workshop online from coach B that you will learn many good things from.

Take the time to watch all 4 parts.

As rx'd 11:04. My first really good CrossFit time ever! I'm finally starting to improve my performance. All I needed was a rest day. I didn't realize how exhausted my body was from 6 days on until Sunday when I woke up around 9:30 and still felt tired all day. It feels good to finally do a WOD with a good time.

Decided to do my first mock PST today instead of the WOD. Just wanted to see where i was at.
Swim - 11:50
Pushups - 54
Situps - 94
Pullups - 13
Run - 9:54

Really disappointed in the swim because i have swam a 500 in like 10 min before, but whatever.

I have a few questions about the PST though. Are goggles allowed during the swim? I remember reading in a thread that they weren't, is this true? And also during the pushups are you allowed to go leaning rest position and recover your arms some? I realize that if you want competitive scores you better be doing pushups for all 2 min but i went into leaning rest like three times so just wondering if i cheated or whatever.

Modified the WOD to be 135 lb back squats instead of 95 lb OHS.

Time = 16:27;

Wasted about a minute a round running up and down stairs from the squat rack to the track.

Time: ~27 minutes.

Only time I had to go to the gym was during peak time. I had to wait quite a bit, therefore I decided to increase the run distance slightly. After I worked on pullups and various ab exercises followed by some swimming.
