Im going to go out on a limb here and opine that: pretty sure he did'nt earn it!!!
Those that care are those that paid the price, some the ultimate price, to wear the Trident.

He's braver than I am. I wouldn't wear a Trident I hadn't earned and I certainly wouldn't wear it with it unbuttoned using that kind of language...
Too bad they won't be able to get anywhere close to him and make a video of a SEAL taking it off of him.... That's a video I wouldn't mind watching.
I had to turn the sound off of that other one. What a mouth... Yeah, I know, I have a talent for under-stating the obvious.

It's a ridiculous rap video with pieced together uniform parts. To go with the "theme". He's wearing pilot wings at one point, medals, a whole lot of "unearned" stuff. Does it really matter?
I am with Monstar.....who cares?

You're welcome Swabbie.
Maybe Curtis Jackson, a.k.a. "50 Cent" thinks he has earned the right since he portrayed an American soldier in the movie Home of the Brave.
I would agree with montstar's post and Courtenay's as well....Who really cares?

Well Courtenay, in my very very humble opinion, having earned some of the awards he's wearing I think it has to do with respect. The language he is using, the sloppy way he's wearing the uniforms show no respect. When you've fought hard for some of those awards (and if you knew my boss, you'd know how hard I had to work to get one of those) it gets under your skin when you see that kind of disrespect.

I can certainly appreciate and understand what you're saying here. But, I'd take it with a grain of salt seeing how it really is nothing more than yet another superfluous video. Rings of nothing more than the almighty dollar to me!

No, he doesn't have the right to wear any medals or a military uniform just because he got shot 9 times. "Who Cares?" We probably should'nt but to all the kids watching and portraying him as a hero, some decorated thug that made it out of an american "Ghetto" is why we should care. He may be a very stong and brave individual with a mental toughness that is hard to match, but he hasn't earned the right to wear what he wore in that video. Weather we care or not he shouldn't do it.

Ummm...did I miss a meeting or something?! I'm certainly no big fan of 50 cent or rap music in general, but, we ARE just talking about a music video right?? Does making a music video somehow imply that he feels he's "earned" anything he wore on an outfit? If so, we might also want to jump down Charlie Sheen's throat for that movie he and Michael Bien did about the SEALs.
Hollywood is the land of make-believe and music videos fall into that category just as readily as TV shows or movies. I'm with Court on this, it doesn't really matter.

Thank you, Spollen.
I realize that it is "just a video" but both my brothers work in Hollyweird. One is trying to produce a movie and has made lots and lots of movie trailers, the other is a set dresser: I know y'all have seen their work even if you don't know their names. I know first hand how 'make believe' Hollyweird is. I grew up with these two.
My point is this: lots of kids will see that video. What do you think it will mean to them when they see it? If I jump on the American flag and it is "just a movie" is it any less disrespectful? My point stands. It is disrespectful even if he is play acting.

The SEAL ETHOS contains words like...."special breed of warrior"..."forged by adversity"..."finest special operations forces"..."honor and heritage"..."embodies the trust"..."responsibility"..."privilege I must earn"..."loyalty beyond reproach"..."honor on and off the battlefield"..."uncompromising integrity"..."character and honor"..."my word is my bond"..."I lead by example"..."discipline"..."I serve to defend."
I would like to post the words of the 50 Cent Rider song; but those I understand cannot be written without reprimand from the administrator. The remainder I cannot comprehend. Someone help this old timer, what are those words of encouragement from this individual?
I cannot reconcile the Trident and this individual in the context presented in any form or fashion. The two do not belong!!!

There would be no reason for a reprimand due to the censors that are in place. Here's the link to the lyrics. Personally I have never understood rap music or their lyrics and I doubt I ever will. Just not my kind of genre.

Quite honestly I don't care, it's quite obvious he has no idea what he is wearing and the set dresser just patched together mismatched uniforms to go with the theme. Getting mad over this just isn't worth it, you cannot control what people do, you can only control your own actions and thoughts. You know that he is no a SEAL and never will be-leave it at that. Going up in arms about it is like the equivalent of PETA getting mad because there was a video of a goldfish out of water. You don't want to stoop down tot heir level.
He inst trying to insult SEALs, if you will notice in the first scene he is wearing a Marine dress uniform and a naval officer hat. Then in the next scene one of his thugs is wearing an army dress with an airborne and special forces insignia. It is just a music video. 50 cent will not go around claiming he is a SEAL to pickup chicks, those are the people you should get pissed about.

Well, this post got a whole bunch of people who would never even have considered watching a 50 Cent video to watch it. Didn't win over any new fans.......but would have been an excellent marketing ploy!
I watched it with the volume off after the first couple of lines. That sort of exhaltation of the gang-banging lifestyle offends me. But, he has the right to put out whatever sort of music he chooses, and I am thankful daily that I live in a country which allows for people to express themselves in anyway which they want, no matter who it may offend. I don't make choices for him, nor does he for me.
Oh, and on a side note, I doubt he feels that he earned the right to wear any of that stuff, I doubt he even knows what a trident is.

I have a son - and sometimes you have to listen and learn in order to understand. I am not condoning or condemning 50 Cent.....it is a rough world out there.

A little perspective.
My grandmother thought the Beatles were a "disgrace" and "we did not fight the war (WWII) for this." In particularly, she disliked John Lennon. Oh, well.
What I am going for here is that every generation wants to do something
shocking to the previous generation. In Mr. 50 Cent's case, this is obviously the only way he knows how to express himself. Be glad you are not one of
his parents.
Happy Monday, everybody.

Big V, Laney and Courtenay seem to understand how trivial this truly is. The 1st thing that came to my mind when I looked at your accusation is exactly what Big V thought. It's acting. If your going to knock this, then every single hollywood actor that portrayed a special forces operative has to be knocked too. He's not showing disrespect to any of our forces, it's a music video... thats it. He's not claiming to have earned a trident, he's not talking about SF in a degrading manner... and he surely isn't taking away the pride and respect that our soldiers have earned. Some of you are reading WAY too deep into this when honestly... it's non factor.
Lastly... as Courtenay said, it doesn't even look like a trident. I watched the video and saw pilot wings. We could very well be having a debate about something that doesn't even exist...

I saw the video a few weeks ago..and had to do a double take..I was upset about it but I gave him the benefit of the doubt that he didnt understand the meaning behind it. Plus he wears more then just the Navy uni in the video, so by this standard he is "disrespecting" the entire military by wearing things that are seen as special and earned. so I say just let it be, no biggie.
However I do get VERY upset when I see guys on my A&M campus wearing shirts that say SEAL team and have a trident under it when it is evident that they are not TEAM guys (guts hanging out over their jeans, you can tell they are not in the least bit athletic and not even close to being over the age of 19)

I doubt he even knows what a trident is.
Only in that it's a symbol for a gang of baddasses. He probably figures it's in lieu of "colors." ;)
As for being his bodyguard; Blackwater may be a safer bet. The guy was shot about ten times a few years ago...and many of his "mentors" have been gunned down.
I also consider his monetary rewards blood money, since he promotes anti-cop, and gang banging violence. Idealistic? Maybe...but it's tough to accept this as just music when you've got friends and family in law enforcement.
I don't give a rat's *** what he wears. Just another way of him showing his true colors.

First off: a set dresser dresses SETS, not people.
Secondly: I stand with my original point: I worked for THREE YEARS before I earned that medal. It's disrespectful.
Thirdly: if it becomes "okay" to disrespect the uniforms in the manner "Mr. cent" has done here, what's next? I don't think this is a generational thing about music. I think this is a case of lowering standards. What's next? Having sex with little kids on screen? Please.
And finally, yes, we can agree to disagree. But I also plea for you to pay attention to what is going on around you.

Totally agree. The military uniforms and medals are just showing that they are street soldiers who are down to do like gang related stuff (aka being a "rider"). They are just stupid idiots who wouldnt even think that wearing those costumes could be disrespectful. As for not listening to fifty anymore...Nah. :) I like you BUD/S, you always cut to the chase.
Ted Haggard who WAS at New Life here in Colorado Springs is just as bad. And not all born again Christians are hypocrites. He surrounded himself with prosperity gospel teachers ('name it and claim it.) The new pastor has worked hard to get the church back on track and, really, he has done a very good job. It is all about accountability. You know about accountability, I know you do. You wouldn't be such a great warrior with such a great reputation if you didn't. :)
C'mon dude, you know a few of us born again Christians. Are we all hypocrites?
My point is this: do you really want society to continue on this path? Because it will... Who should we use as role models? I can think of about 5 people who regularly post on this site that are MY role models. In terms of integrity (and by that I mean acting consistently with one's values) they keep me on the straight and narrow. I can give you a list if you want one... The mission with the group was and is to reintroduce the core values that this country was founded... many of those values are stated above in the ethos. I'm with Courtenay on this. Who the hell cares what 50 Cent does, he's a "gansta rapper" who makes his living off feuds and playing himself to be a gangster. He probably doesn't even know what a trident really means. He just got a bunch of medals and awards he thought looked cool and put it on. Even if he did know what a trident is, realize this is how he makes his living and the more you talk about him, the more he gets off on this sort of thing. Don't lose any sleep over it, it doesn't change the fact he's a douche.

They are INFAMOUS in this town. NO self-respecting Christian works there unless he has a law degree. Seriously. I don't want to get started on what has happened at that previously wonderful institution. Let's just say that once James Dobson handed the reins over to other people? It died.

I feel your pain bud/s. I have a Baptist minister for a brother. Thanksgiving this year his blessing went so long one of the little ones kept trying to stop him by saying "amen". Didn't work.
Ok - Couldn't help but laugh while reading these posts. :)
Oldswabbie - no offense -- but Ted Bundy??? How'd ya ever get there ? Anyway.
No one liked the Stones either - and the Beatles were long haired hippie freaks -- like Dan18 said - and what about the Greatful Dead, Alice Cooper, David Bowie, Frank Zappa etc...
I think Rap speaks to a generation on many different levels - not just to air their gang wars. Take Eminem - I think he's a great artist -- ever listen to his sound effects...? In particular I like a line from Slim Shady -- when he is defending attacks on his lyrics (ya know "freedom of speech) -- "but its ok for Tom Greene to hump a dead moose" I think Buds/184 might know what I'm refering to.
I can not speak with regard to the Trident or the Uniforms -- I don't qualify.
Anyway - this is fun --

This group is not devoted to any political party...they only ask that you define and vote the values you trust...and instead of listening to the politicians verbage...do a little research and see what they stand for by their voting record..
Nope. I'm referring to guys who aren't known outside of this city. Anyway, Haggard's 'advisors' preach prosperity teaching: give us $1000 bucks and God will give you anything you want. We call it 'blab it and grab it', they call it 'name it and claim it.' Personally? I call it CRAP. Google 'Church for all Nations' here in Colorado Springs and look at the picture of the head Grabber, um Preacher. He lives in a gated community in a HUGE home, drives a brand new SUV.... get me started.
Ted Haggard actually did do a lot of good in this town. He got all the preachers talking to each other and he got a chaplain assigned to all the police and fire department stations. Trouble is? When the enemy (satan) sees someone doing good? He wants to bring him down. I've seen it waaaay too often.

FYI: we have 6 baptist pastor's in our family!!
Well, I'll say one thing: you are consistent, Honorman. However, I'd say that knowing what I know? I'd go with the Baptists. However, you STILL haven't answered my question about hypocrites..
If someone is bored during a prayer they are either unfocused or under 12. Sorry Courtenay, but, that has to do with the heart of a Christian and if I get into that here? I'll be shouted down...

Something tells me that request about hypocrites is being ignored. I just don't know. :p
However, y'all have proved my point: it's okay to bad mouth and disrespect almost anything as long as it is a famous person doing it. I think that you'll look back at this point in history with regret - we could have done something and didn't. It's kind of like Fort Devens in Massachusetts. The local liberals didn't want the airfield expanded and so the intelligence school was moved out, the Base shut down and the local economy tanked in Ayer. One little thing, just one little thing.:(

I don't think I'll have regrets....you and I are 100% on opposite ends of the spectrum!! I think the radical (religious) right is the biggest problem in this country....so I'm going to refrain!!

Well, I am not under 12, so I guess I know what that means. And, I am not the least bit concerned about the possible consequences of being unfocused on my brother's long dinner blessings which turn out to be more like sermons. I like to eat the food before it gets cold. God's all knowing, right? I'm sure he "gets it".

:) Well, there ya go. :) See, I love honesty. It's refreshing. It's also why I find solace in these boards.
Don't let the first statement I make blind you to the second one I made, however. Take a look at the statement about the heart of a Christian, not for me, for you. It took me years to understand that and once I did? I realized that no one who had made that was trying to insult me.
Again, I apologize if this feels like I'm trying to shove my beliefs down your throat. Quite the opposite, I assure you. And thank you, again, for your honesty. :)

The dude is 40. Little? I dunno. Now if we can just drag him off to a worship meeting and show him that we're not all bad. Really. I'm much more tolerable as a born again Christian than I was as an unsaved nymphomaniac. I was a b*tch, an angry, manipulative, backstabbing b*tch. Y'all would NOT have liked me. Maybe I shouldnt be so hard on 49cents....
Mercy ~ should have seen me too.. I wasnt kidding earlier.. they wrote the song "Wild Eyed Southern Boy" about me :) This is no lie. When I first started dating my wife. I went to church with her one Sunday. It was a nice day, a good day, a safe day ~ the roof didnt fall in on me. A typical meet and greet shake your hand Sunday Service. I met her family (all went to church there). I left afterward to go get something to eat.. church always makes you hungry...
Sheila says 3 men Bee-lined for her and her Daddy. They got to them and said to her "You DO REALIZE WHO that IS? RIGHT?". She said ...yea.. They went "NO.. Dont you know WHO that is? Thats Jim XXXX!" They turned to her father and said, "Henry, this guy is Trouble with a capital T! He is BAD news". Sheila calmed all 3 of them down and told them I wasnt the guy I use to be years before (when I had gotten out of the Navy) - I had changed.
It took months before her father REALLY trusted me ~ even longer before anyone other than Sheila would sit next to me in a pew out of few of a roof collapse.. The Preacher would always make these funny hand signals whenever I would exit a room...other than that... I think I was good to go :D
That was my reputation. It was not very good, sad to say. I was not a nice person I didnt care about anyone.
I'm not like that anymore..
Anyway..
Changed my mind.. 49Cents is still an A$$HOLE

That's what happened to my husband too. That's mostly why he was saved. Yes, I'm totally psycho. I take a perfectly good Green Beret and make him a born again Christian. :D
The 'church' I go to now is Rocky Mountain Calvary. You go in, sing, listen to verse by verse Bible teaching, sing and leave. Occasionally there's communion or a baby dedication, but that's it. Even the Baptisms are held at different times from worship. It's about as simple as it gets and that's why I love it. There's no proselytizing. :)
And that's what I see in 42 cent. I see proselytizing to the masses of his take on things. He doesn't even realize the damage he's doing in little kids.

Ok so I know Im a little late on here but what I was going to comment on all the rap/hip hop bashing.
I dont thing 50 should have worn any of that stuff but Im also on the boat that he is acting and not claiming. I mean I think Vin Diesel playing a Navy SEAL that babysits is worse.
But on the topic of people saying that hip hop artist are no talent I think that it is wrong to state your opinions of an entire genre just because of what you see of one or two of the artist. Hip hop is a very diverse genre that requires a lot of talent to master and if you look at artist lke Eminem, The Beneficial Disciple, Jedi Mind Tricks you will seethat even if you dont like what it sounds like a lot of their songs go deeped than, Drink, smoke, and get some ***.
I fully respect the aspect if it is not your genre because country is not my gene either. But I dont go around judging Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings by listening to a Carrie Underwood album.
I just think that all the bad publicity is making hip hop a dying artform when most peple have just barely scratched the surface.

Funny, but I'm currently watching that movie and Vin Diesel does NOT show disrespect for the SEALs as he plays that role. Quite the contrary. He is in shape, he is modest and he does a very good job of handling a few crooks.
But on the topic of people saying that hip hop artist are no talent I think that it is wrong to state your opinions of an entire genre just because of what you see of one or two of the artist. Well, the artists you mention are all fairly close to expressing the values I hold dear. Mr. Curtis '39 cent' Jackson does not. I never heard Carrie Underwood use that kind of language. Sigh. You don't hear swearing in Country music. Maybe that's what people object to regarding hip-hop. I know I do. However, I like some of the dancing I see, when it's not obscene.

Ok well I agree with what you said about Vin Diesel he does reresent well but he didnt earn it and thats what 90 percent of this thread is about 50 cent doing not earning it. Because 50 never claimed, from my personal knowldge, to be a SEAL or whatever else he plays in that video.
On the fact that I didnt use the quote function is because everytime I push quote it takes me to an internet can notdisplay page properly display.
But a few of the quotes I remember were along the lines of how 50 cent can continue to make rap garbage and along those lines.
Now for what I relaly wanted to address. You said that te Country Artist that I mentioned all hold values that are dear to you whereas 50 cent does not. While the artist I mentioned have values that I hold dear to me. The comparisn I was making was that, to the mainstream right now what the AVERAGE music fan who listens to mussic on the radio/TV is gettingfrom country is Carrie Underwood and Poppy artist like herr Faith Hill Tim McGraw and such who hold no values(that I can see) that Johnny Cash and artist such as him hold. Carrie Underwood does not even write her own songs and sings about stuff that has never happened to her. She is a marketing tool and all the power to her because she is hot and very talented at the country singing and playing.
Whereas 50 cent is the same thing to rap music. Eminem and Johnny Cash have been compared many times due to the fact that they revolutionized their respective genres and people played off of that to make a quick buck hence the crappy country and Rap artist now like 50 cent and Carrie underwood.
And swearing is a major part of Rap music that gives the words their meaning. Yes some people over do it and offend many people. But Johnny Cash was a Bad boy when he came out too wearing all black and singing about the stuff he did was not accepted by many people just like when Eminem came out.
I was just comparing how that if someone heard Carrie Underwood and thought she was garbage and never gave great artist a chance is kind of like hearing this song and not giving great rp artist a chance.

I'm on a Mac, so I feel your pain. Half the time I'm fighting its idiosyncrasies. In order to quote some one? All you have to do is use these brackets [ and type the words quote and then the = sign and then the person's user name (mine is 'jumping bum') and then close the bracket. I'd give you an example, but then the HTML would read it and interpret it. To close the quote you use the [ bracket then a frontward slash, the word quote and then close the bracket.
Do you remember who said the stuff? It's not that I don't believe you; it's that I can't properly address your point without the right quote. I'm a bit of a wordsmith, so I like to be precise.

Personally? I can't stand Eminem because of his values, but I also didn't realize he was seen as a revolutionary. I must be getting old. I apologize, again, I did not do enough research on that point.
And swearing is a major part of Rap music that gives the words their meaning. Yes, some people over-do it and offend many people. But Johnny Cash was a Bad boy when he came out too wearing all black and singing about the stuff he did was not accepted by many people just like when Eminem came out.
See, here's the basic problem: those of us over about 40 were brought up having our mouths washed out with soap or being slapped at the dinner table for saying those words. We used to say "h, e double toothpicks" and think we were pushing the envelope.
I spoke with a Vietnam Vet about the amount of swearing the young troops here on Carson seem to be doing. I said I cut them some slack because they had seen combat. His response? "We didn't swear like that when WE came back from combat."
He's absolutely right. People of that era didn't swear around women and children or in polite society. It was felt that it showed a lack of intelligence - the person couldn't think of any other word to say. So when you say it "gives words their meaning" I have to object.
What meaning? Do you mean denotation or connotation? In MY experience? Denotation is dictionary definition so, f**k means copulation, s**t means fecal or urine elimination. PERIOD.
Now if you want to talk about connotation, that's a whole 'nother conversation. I have a humorous anecdote about how you can use f**k as all parts of speech. However, when I was in the Army and working in my field, if I had spoken like that? I wouldn't have gotten very far (i.e. promoted or respected) and I'd probably even get fired as a civilian for talking like that on a casual basis.
I think it's wrong to encourage young people to talk like that. If a kid came into MY office talking like that? S/he was at LEAST was going to be asking for an apology if they wanted ANY help from me or I'd have been showing them the door.
Here in Colorado? You can get arrested for language like that. Yes, it IS illegal last time I checked.
I was just comparing how... someone [hearing] Carrie Underwood...[, thinking] she was garbage, and... [thus never giving] a great artist [like Johnny Cash] a chance [,] is kind of like hearing this song and not giving great rap artist [like Eminem] a chance.
Chase
Forgive me for the editing, but I wanted to be sure I understood you properly. As I said, I'm pretty precise with my language. I may not always be accurate (close to the truth) but I try to stay close to my own understanding and values (precise.)
You make a great point if that is what you're saying. That would be a close-minded way of looking at Rap music. I just can't get past the swearing. I do, however, really like a LOT of Will Smith's work even if I can't stand Eminem (whose work came well after Will Smith started rapping.)

How can you say that Faith Hill and Tim McGraw hold no values if you don't listen to Country music? Have you ever read anything about these two? Also, there are many artists who don't write their own songs. Just like there are many song writers who don't perform their own. It's a two way street. Chase, they are all marketing tools!
Whereas 50 cent is the same thing to rap music. Eminem and Johnny Cash have been compared many times due to the fact that they revolutionized their respective genres and people played off of that to make a quick buck hence the crappy country and Rap artist now like 50 cent and Carrie underwood.
I believe you've just sent Johnny Cash into a spinning motion. BTW, Eminem needs to learn how to spell his own name, it's M&M! :)
And swearing is a major part of Rap music that gives the words their meaning. Yes some people over do it and offend many people. But Johnny Cash was a Bad boy when he came out too wearing all black and singing about the stuff he did was not accepted by many people just like when Eminem came out.
It may be a major part but it certainly isn't a necessity. Johnny Cash's songs weren't any where close to what is in Rap music today.

Ok well first I would like to apologize on the many typos in some of my posts. I do type fast but not very well. I also realize that a friendly debate cannot take place if one side does not communicate very well and for that Im sorry.
For the point I made that you said would come back ad haunt you it was a mere comparison on how I believe I would have felt if the roles were reversed. The mainstream rapper hold and speaks none of the core values that you, jumpingbum, do yourself but if you look at some of the more, shall I say, intelligent rappers, you might find some of the same views that you hold as in the ideas behind the words and music of a song or album.
As for Eminem being revolutionary it is more so in the rap/hip hop world with him being the first lyricist to come out and openly say what he sees wrong with the whole "game" meaning genre and how he believes that sell out artists that changed their music and style just to sell records should not be viewed as good of rappers as he is.
Your problem with the swearing and bad content of the songs is completly understandable as many rappers do it for shock value and to sell records. The highly respected MCs such as Run DMC and Eminem do not actually talk like that when in conversation. If you watch some of Eminems interviews he speaks very professionaly and does not lower himself to speaking like that at all times.
The way I believe swear words add to the meaning or strength of the words is in the way many comedians use them to emphasize their joke. Rappers use the same technique to put more emphasis on the strength or power of a word or punchline.
As for the last thing you said jumpingbum liking Will Smith's(who was mainstream first but began rap at about the same time hence some of Eminem's more "underground" stuff like "infinite") rap vs Eminem's would jsut be a matter of personal opinion and thats completely understandable. Just like I barely scratch the surface on my knowledge of country and music you listen too te same boat is shared in hip hop. Hip hop is a lot like country in many ways. Both having very good artists and some not so up to par artists.

Eminem = Marshall Mathers - it is actually a play on his name.

Rap can be difficult to understand...the reason I became interested in it was because my son became interested in it. When he was about ten I would not allow him to purchase an Eminem CD. In particular - because of the lyrics in "Stan" - but of course I only listened to part of it not the whole song. Eminem's lyrics and tone scared "me" not my son. Then as he got older he bought the CD's anyway. On a drive to Maine one summer we were listening to "my" CD's. He asked if we could listen to his. So begrudgingly I let him put Eminem on. ...and I listened, asked questions and understood a new artist and a whole lot more about my son. I became a fan of "some" of Eminem's songs along with Tupac, Dr. Dre, Outkast etc.. Keeping an open mind - I was able to connect on another level with my son and also discuss some aspects of the music and lyrics that I felt were good or over the top.
....as they say it's a free country and if you don't want to listen to it you don't have to.

I may be "older" tt but I'm not at the point where I don't have a clue that Eminem is a play on his real name. When I do hear Eminem I automatically think of M&M's. What can I say, I'm addicted to them and have been for more than 30+ years.
My teenage years were the mid to late 70's and we listened to Rush, Boston, Journey, Foreigner, Kiss, Aerosmith, The Eagles, Steve Miller, Bob Seger, and the list goes on.
I listen to all different types of music but I have to say that rap is at the bottom of the stack.
WRT the cussing...doesn't really bother me at all. I am a seasoned professional in that arena. I was trained by two of the best men I have ever known. They are near and dear to me. Let's face it, there are times when you just have to say...WTF!!!

50 Cent lyrics below....wow sounds like he is pure evil huh!!! Oh and to answer your question about hypocrite.....your posts on this topic prove my point...and my answer is YES!!
[Chorus]
God gave me style
God gave me grace
God gave me style
God gave me grace
God put a smile on my face
Haha, God put this smile on my face
God made me shine like the sun
God make me shine like the sun
Sometimes I feel like I'm the one
Sometimes I feel like I'm the one
It ain't my fault
[Bridge]
I just reach for style, I'm hot I breaks it down
It ain't my fault, you can't break it down the way I break it down
[Verse 1- 50 Cent]
Listen you can call me what you want, black and ugly
But you can't convince me the Lord don't love me
When my cds drop, they sell the best
You call it luck, why can't it just be I'm blessed
I'm a trackstar, runnin' through life, chasin' my dream
Best deal I made was tradin' the mic for that triple beam.
I zone off thinkin' is there really heaven or hell
So what happens to a changed man who dies in a cell
I need no answers to these questions, cuz time will tell
Got a date with destiny, she's more than a girl
Don't much good come from me, but my music
Is a gift given from God so I'ma use it (Yeaaah!)

This time? You're not crystal clear. You're not even clear.
Let's see, it took me five minutes to find the point to which you are referring. I asked if all the born again Christians you know are hypocrites and you are saying that my posts on this topic prove your point that I am.
How? Because I see nothing hypocritical. I try very very hard to write with humor and integrity. So, please, Honorman, enlighten me because this time? You've lost me...
As for the lyrics? Those aren't the lyrics I heard in that video. The lyrics on that video were interspersed with f*** and sh** and other such obscenities. So all I can say is you heavily edited those lyrics or the lyrics above are from another song.

I have a WTF sticker on my car....if you saw my car you'd know why. :)
Jumpingbum -
Some people ask me what my bumper sticker means - depending on who is asking I'll tell them, sometimes I make something up. It's amazing how many people don't know -- but then again I didn't know what PITA meant - even though I am one.

Don't get me wrong, TT, I swear plenty, just not when other people are around. But that has to do with some other issues. Besides, what has all this to do with Mr. 32 cents?

Isn't that kinda along the lines of if a tree falls in the forest and there is no one there to hear it, does it still make the sound?
I admit that I swear worse than the hubby who is in construction, it is not something that I am proud of. My kids get to smack mommy's hand when she is driving and some dirt bag mother****er **** sucking ******* cuts her off. But by going with what you believe God is always present, he is all knowing whether anyone else is there to hear you or not by your own admission God is there to hear you. Would you or would you not agree with this statement.
As far as the whole rap/hip hop thing goes no I don't like it, don't listen to it. But there are other music genre's that I do listen to that I have to turn off when the kids are in the car because of lyrics. And it is country music too just not to the degree, examples Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison Blues I shot a man in reno just to watch him die. Or how about Hank Williams Jr. with Family Traditions which is about getting disowned for drinking and getting stoned. There are good and bad with all genre's of music, just as with most other things in life.

Why would you still do that? Not to sound judgemental, but isn't there a certain level of serenity that comes with being saved, which would take you out of that state of mind.....alone or not?
Not that profanity bothers me so much, if someone uses it around me I don't go into a tizzy. But it is one of my peeves about rap music, I can't see it's relevancy when someone is writing lyrics. You have the time as a writer to find so many ways to express yourself. Inserting profanity is simply for "street value" which to me comes off as buffoonish.

It wasn't an attack, first. Second, this whole thread spun off the topic multiple times. And three, what makes you think you can tell me to "knock it off"?
My world is pretty damned perfect. Don't need to "get saved".

what route are climbing on Pikes Peak? I have run it during the Pikes Peak Marathon but was not aware there were any technical routes
jumpingbum
07-26-2008, 09:48 PM
ooops. Okay, I guess I should have said hiking. There is the route you took on the Marathon (my hat is off to you, I am not worthy, I am not worthy, I am not worthy) and there is the easier route by the back way. There is also the area of the peak that can be skied in the winter time, however, it's dangerous. I can think of one kid who was killed snowboarding and one newscaster who was paralyzed ( I can't remember if he's now a paraplegic or a quadraplegic.) One can do some higly technical climbs in the area. There are also some highly technical climbs in the Garden of the Gods and the Cheyenne Canyon area.
Tell me this isn't turning into a reunion...

Well I found the following:
http://www.denverbroncos.com/page.php?id=1240 (http://www.denverbroncos.com/page.php?id=1240)
It will tell you all about the Broncos activities to date. Currently they are at the Dove Valley Headquarters for Training Camp. (Free and open to the public except for a game against Houston (?) which our local news media (not known for their accuracy) said was only open to the media... (That's not what the website says..)
Hope that helps.
As far as staying on topic? I wonder if Mr. 32 cent Curtis Jackson will dress up as a Denver Bronco next? :D I'm evil. I know...

This thread by the OP was about posting your thoughts on 50 cent wearing a trident. The posts that have followed have covered a multitude of topics that either are or are not related to the wearing of a trident.
This isn't the first thread that has spun off topic and it won't be the last. However, if the members here who have posted can't agree to disagree, then kindly refrain from posting.
Discussing and/or debating religious beliefs is not a good idea. People are very passionate about this topic.
Just so everyone here knows, the only ones who will be telling anyone to "knock it off" are the Administrators and Moderators.
I trust that I have made myself perfectly clear on this subject.

Threads that go off topic don't upset me in the least. This thread has certainly changed topics plenty of times. What does irritate me is that the subject of religious beliefs seems to be appearing in more and more threads. When that happens, tempers can and have flared. That will not be tolerated as NSC is a DFZ (drama free zone).

If there is a thread or group started it might need a header, - something like:

Actually, I believe the Jungle was set up for heated discussions such as that...including the warning. That would be the most likely place for it. And with the censorship lifted there now, we can even swear. ;)
