I belong to a group called Soldiers' Angels. Obviously a group dedicated to supporting our troops. I am posting this recent email in hopes that some of you would be interested in participating. Follow the links, or contact me directly if you are!

Dear Soldiers' Angel,
Your Sewing Team announces the 2008 holiday drive for our deployed
heroes, which is called BLANKETS OF BELIEF. The goal is to provide
180,000 of our service members spending another holiday in the war
zones with a with a homemade blanket as part of our Wrapped in Holiday
Spirit holiday packs.

Do you sew? If you do... terrific! If you don't... no problem! The
SA web site has directions for sewing a blanket/quilt, as well as for
making a blanket without any sewing at all. Will you please make just ONE BLANKET for a brave member of our military?
For instructions and directions, please visit
http://www.soldiersangels.org , then link to Blankets of Belief.
Should you have questions or comments, please contact us at
blanketsofbelief@gmail.com.

THANK YOU on behalf of the Troops we serve!

Girl, did you go to the site to check out the non-sewing ones?

Thanks for posting this! We have several moms with children in the military in my office, so I'll be posting this.

Why do they prefer sewn or fleece blankets, though? Wouldn't knit or crochet work with a lightweight, washable yarn?

Email and ask! I am sure that what they posted on their site are just suggestions.
