View Full Version : Question on ASVAB scores
I am only 16 and I have time before I pursue my career in the Navy, but I am wondering what an avarage score and good scores look like on the ASVAB? I plan to study up for it and do what I can to get a great score once I find out!

Well not trying to be an *** here but I don't think you can become a SEAL if your blind in one eye, which is what you'd have to be to miss where it said "Announcement: Guide to posting in the NavySEALs.com forum". But in all seriousness "Minimum ASVAB Score of: General Science (GS) + Mechanical Comprehension (MC) + Electronics Information (EI) = 165 or Verbal Expression (VE) + Mechanical Knowledge (MK) + Mechanical Comprehension (MC) + Coding Speed (CS)=220".

At least you're capitalizing "I" which seems to set you apart from most other people... You'll do fine, you seem like an intelligent young man. The ASVAB is a much easier version of the ACT. The PSAT/SAT is also a good indicator, but the ACT has some general science question sections that the SAT does not have.
For math, it's basic algebra, geometry, and I remember a very basic trig question.
Reading/Verbal is an easier version found on college standardized tests
General science is basic bio, chem, and physics that you should be familiar with by sophomore year anyway. If not, take a year in each subject

It's Critical that you get the BEST score you can get ~ but you know that. Take every practice test you can get your hands on. I think you can even buy the practice ones too. Check Barnes & Noble or Books a Million for study guides.
Alot of resources on Military.com too.

The ASVAB had me worried at first when I was pursuing my SEAL contract because I had never taken a practice test or anything, so I was worked up over what turned out to be absolutely nothing. It doesn't compare to the SAT's or ACT's. If you're 16, still in school and fresh off the books you will do fine. I'm 4 years out of High School and only attended 2 semesters of Community College and I did well. Don't sweat it. You'll be ok.

I wasn't singling you out, but it doesn't require that much effort to use proper grammar by hitting the shift button.

Take it easy thepho. What mmaakuma posted wasn't meant to be funny. It is a completely valid point.
