Fastback - Welcome to NavySEALS.COM. Salute the standard on your way up.
First thing its SEALS not seals...thats a biggie! Ok, there are a ton of resources on this site. At the top under the LEARN and TRAIN & TAKE THE CHALLENGE buttons you can find most of all the information you need to know. However, if you have already joined then that brings in some other things to play. IF you can pass the PFT's and can possibly get a SEAL contract (which is also worth quite a bit of money) then you have to get that in writing. You are going to need to speak with a Special Warfare Recruiter. Have you been to MEPS yet?

Fast,
welcome to NavySEALs.com.
I am going to chime in here with a little advice for what its worth. From the sounds of things you are coming in at the bottom of the ladder and have a lot of work to do, however you are DEP for the Navy so congratulations on that first huge step. You need to more than want it, you need to live, eat and breathe it. If you want to become a SEAL, then you will make it but you have to want it more than anything else and you must be prepared to sweat blood and tears to make that happen. You are aspiring to become one of the elite, a professional warrior and one of the best. That means you must train to become a warrior.
Spend time going through the forums and posts, pay special attention to the BTDTs as there are many golden nuggets of information and experience within these forums.
There are a lot of very knowledgable professionals on here that can give you some very valuable advice and suggestions to achieve your goals.

Fastback. DiveDoc is an MD and quite knowledgeable. Read through the links he gave you and then go through the source links I gave you earlier too. Here is an email address to the SEAL motivator. He can give you the contact information to the Specwar Recruiter in your area.

I would also contact Courtenay and the other moms, wives, etc. on this board. Like it or not, things are different when you have a new daughter. They may give you their perspective, as the divorce rate in SOF is very high. Is your primary goal your own aspirations, or your daughter? Something to consider.
A girlfriend is NOT a wife so she has very little legal responsibility to take care of your child.

Maakuma, VERY GOOD catch, I missed that! This is true. Fastback, you could have all kinds of problems because of this. I know you say you want to get married, and I'm not saying get married because of this either. There are alot of things to consider. You can get a little extra money for your dependent child, but not for your GF to help her with support. She will not be eligible for base housing or military benefits. She could have some difficulties with the child healthcare.. all kinds of things come into play. Others could better tell you how it would work as GF/BF with a child in military but its not that easy.

Hey...1st things first Marry your baby momma!! Then make the reason you live...is to become a SEAL...and be the best Husband/Father....you could ever be....and make the reason you make it thru BUD/S is because you don't want to let your new family down and screw them out of extra money....like Jump pay...Dive Pay...Hazardous Duty Assignment pay.....Know that if you don't make it your little girl...is gunna have to be a stripper for and pornstar just to make ends meet.......but if you make it thru BUD/S....you can save....and get her into Harvard.....and she might be the next President......My 2nd phase swim buddy....that's his story not mine.....but hell.....duplicate it....make it yours...!!! My advice!!!

What, do tell does the above mean?

Bud/s 184 doesn't have to try to be a funny guy. It comes naturally for him. Honestly, he does have a valid point.
It may be easier for you to type that way, but it makes it difficult for the rest of the members here to figure out what it is you're trying to ask and/or say. I find it hard to believe that you are 22 years old with the way you spell and that doesn't even begin to cover your grammar. Yes, Hooked On Phonics would do you a world of good. Let me type dat your way, Huked on Foniks, would do you a world of good. Just saying...

FastBack ~ You got on the forum and asked the questions. You WILL get answers. Some of them will be "Brutally" frank with you, some who responded are Navy SEALS who are definately BTDT's, one is an MD (Medical Doctor), some of us have just BTDT (been there done that). I am an old Fart, joined the Navy 33 years ago. Others responding have years of experience and knowledge.
You are going to get the Good ~ the Bad ~ the Ugly. Take the advice, think about it and apply it to your life where you believe it will do the most good.
Not ONE of us here would intentionally steer you in the wrong direction or even think of giving you bad advice. We are adults and want to see young people suceed in their Navy careers, whether its in the Fleet or in NSW.
Fastback, You DO need to think about your communication skills. I'm not "Nit Picking" you - just stating a fact. As an Operator you NEED to be able to expertly and properly communicate yourself to your Teammates. Let your speech be understandable and your written communication as much so.
There is a wealth of Information in both written form and intellectual on this site. Take advantage of it, learn from it. Many of us have thrown the seabag across our shoulders and walked down the pier you are just now looking at. Some of us have done it long long ago. The Seabag's on your shoulder now son. Take the advice of us that have went before you and those that are even along side you now.

That would be some great motivation! The extra pays are nice. Having family around that's important to you is nice, because they will be there if you make it and will be there if you don't. I know though for my husband, his little girl pushes him through every day.

Well if you want to make it the 1st time....then just do it....only "you" can keep that from happening.....unless you have a physical issue...like eye sight...or a Jelly Heart....or sum shiiiit!!!
