I went to MEPs and was sworn in on september 11th, 2002. All day long there was September 11th footage reliving the tragedy from the year prior. MEPs has some significance to us all, enjoy it the best you can, I was so nervous!

They didnt call it MEPS when I enlisted. They sent us via Bus down to Miami to the AFEES station in Coral Gables. Put us up in this RATTY hotel over night, we were FORBIDDEN to leave the building after dark. We were only 2 blocks from Little Havana. All night long, sirens, gunshots.. screams. Only 2 people died that night in Little Havana! The next day all of us were back on the bus on our way back home. Exciting trip & Traumatic Trip for a 17 year old :)

That's why :) If you say "When you went to AFEES" then they will know what you're talking about (Armed Forces Entrance Examination Station).

Dang! I bet! How many guys where there? All of South Florida went to AFEES Coral Gables once a week so we had about 250-300 I think. "Johnsons" as far as the eye could see as they say! LOL Still cracks me up when they said "Alright, everyone...." My eyes got big as Baseballs as my best friend Martin said "Junior, its ok, they do this to everybody"... I said "Martin, I'm a gonna hit the first one that ... WHAT THE...." LOL Oh my goodness. Needless, papers, forms, questions, sitting at desks for hours and hours. I was ready to leave that place.

I bet you had 500+ guys being it was LA?

Im in the navy :D. I signed under surface sonar guy... But will be doing my first PST for my SEAL contract june 6th. Once I get my contract, my recruiter said the motivator likes to work with guys for 4 months before letting them leave, so Ill be leaving sometime around September.

I took a depth perception test for being a rescueswimmer and I failed it. I was told I still qualify for SEALS and can get a waiver for it. I have no idea why I failed it, never had a problem with depth perception and just want to confirm on here that it will not affect me at all?

I'm proud of you! As they use to say... "Let the Adventure Begin"....

Have you been to a civilian Eye doc recently? Might be worth it to check that out?

not much to talk about for me. I went to MEPS at Fort Hamilton, in Brooklyn, NY. had a great time, talking to the other military hopefuls, now all DEPpers. i could say the marine enlistees were pretty "prideful". Alot of army enlistees there as well. I hear MEPS usually takes almost a hundred people, but i was taken there with about 10! met another guy who signed up for a SEAL contract, and is shipping off next month, during the night at the hotel all we did was pushups and lift weights.
