I would like to share my experience of getting a SEAL contract so that others wont make the same mistakes i did. I decided i wanted to be a SEAL in october, but during that time i was under medical suspension. I started talking to the recruiter in November, DEPed in December. Here are the issues i have had:

1. After taking my ASVAB my recruiter informed me that my score was good enough for SEALs, however, it was not. Now they have just informed me that my package has been rejected due to my ASVAB score. The lesson to learn here is this:dont dep in until you have seen a copy of your asvab scores. Verify yourself, that your asvab scores are good enough for what you want to do before deping in, because once you dep in, you wont be able to take it again.

2. I believe i joined to early after a injury. I joined very quickly after being on medical suspension from a concussion for four months. During that four months i could not work out, drive, work, or do much of anything. Please, make sure before you dep in you can meet the minimums for your pst. When i deped in i was in terrible shape, due to the injury. Then while in dep i got a serious sinus infection that has hindered my training. Dont risk it, you never know what could happen, make sure you can get your SEAL contract early within DEP. Even if your a healthy person, you never know if you could sick which could prevent you from training.

Now most likely i will be shipping out as a master of arms to the fleet. Dont make the same mistakes i did.

I'm sorry that happened to you.

All is not lost. You may have suffered a temporary set back but there could still be other options. There are some very knowledgeable people on this board that can give you some good direction.

I know you are discouraged, I would be too. But, I personally want to thank you for stepping up to serve our Country. I mean this truthfully and honestly. If I could I would shake you hand and thank you in person.

GUYS - I cannot stress enough the importance of getting EVERYTHING in writing BEFORE you sign on the dotted line. Take NOTHING for granted and NOTHING Verbally. Even Good recruiters forget stuff and then you are Screwed.

Thanks for sharing Josh. I know that it would be easy to just get sour in your position, but you're not. You're laying out warning for the 'soon to be's' so that they don't make the same mistakes. However, like swabbie said, hope is not lost. I've heard of numerous guys and who re-took the ASVAB once they were in service and scored high enough for the thing that they wanted. I think that the only restriction is that you must wait for 6 months after your first try.

I'm not really mad or anything, if i gotta be a master of arms before i can try out for SEAL then thats the way it is. Hopefully they station me at some base near the ocean so i have a beach to run on. Just wanted to put this stuff out there so people know.
