Any advice from older and wiser folks out there? I have been reading around this website and I have decided a long time ago that the best way to go would be a SEAL contract. I talked to a recruiter and he said that a SEAL contract is possible.... I took a mini-asvab and he said I got a great score on it (3 parts of the asvab) I am a junior now, just a few quick questions....

- Sign in June and get a whole year of a SEAL mentor? (I am on track/farther ahead in my high school credits)

- Should I visit the Naval Special Warfare Command at Coronado this summer? Do you think I could just try the obstacle course?

-I’m a big guy... 6' 5" 208. People say it’s harder for me to make it but i really want it bad enough...

-Do they have size 15 boots in the Navy or do I bring my own?

-What happens if I don't make Bud/s my first time on a SEAL contract (Not going to happen though…)

-If I want to be a sniper what are the chances that I don't get to be one? (Im a pretty good shot and have been training with my step dad who was a SWAT sniper for 5 years)

Thanks for all help and please don't just tell me to use the search function.... I have a bad feeling im going to get torn up on this one...

now this is a dilemma, my marine recruiter told me that the people who drop out of bud/s are left to choose "***" jobs like deck swabbing, and busting rust on the ships. i sure hope my recruiter wasnt lying

Depends on what score you get on the asvab.

1. Do the mentor thing...sounds like a good deal.

2. Don't worry about the "O" course...you will get plenty of practice.

3. I was shorter and bigger than you when I went thru. There have been guys over 6' 6" and 250lbs. Size doesn't mean ****.

4. Yes, they will provide the appropriate size boots.

5. Don't make it thru, you are going the fleet.

6. Prior training doesn't mean ****. It's all about needs of the platoon at the time and if you are a solid performer. Worry about BUD/S first.

haha and I thought I was the only one! I still have you beat though, mine's a 3 hour drive if I want to PT with my mentor (Bmore to VA Beach)

I'm not totally sure but I think there is a mentor in Philly. Isn't that a little closer than VA beach?

I was surprised that in the past 7 months there's only been myself and 2 other guys in DEP for SEALs in this area. Is it that way for you guys, as well, or are there a bunch more?

The workouts I go to in usually have around 15-20 guys attending on a regular basis. I've seen a lot of faces cylce through there.
