I go to Hampton Beach in NH a lot during the summer and the water there is often very cold. I remember a few years back I saw a woman who had a seizure and they had to pull her out of the water and took her by abulance to the hospital. If I remember correctly someone on the beach said it was because of the water temp and she was probably in there too long. I was just curious if this is true and if it has happened at BUDs?

Seizures because of the cold doesn't make sense to me.
Ask yourself this question, when you are extremely cold, as in wet and cold, how does your body react?
For most people, joints hurt, slow movement, slurred speach, incoherent sentences, etc.
Another thing, I'm sure no one was holding a gun to her head, I mean it's a public beach... So she stayed in the water soooo long, being thaaaat cold, that she had seizures? Doesn't make sense to me...

as a lifeguard trained in first aid, i can say seizures are usually caused by a trigger of certain color/color combinations, sounds, or whatever else the brain receives.

It didnt sound right to me either, probably mistaking her shivering for a seizure. I figured I would ask anyways, thanks.
