Good day SEALs and everyone else. To start, I'll introduce myself. I live in Columbus, Ohio where I'm 17 and in high school. More and more I feel as if college isn't the place for me (yet I still take those damn ACTs) and I think I want to go into the military after I graduate, about a year away. If I enlist, I want to do something great. I'm prepared to work for it. As of now, I'm no where near my goal. I first started working out around six months ago but I'm at a sort of genetic disadvantage. No real problem, just naturally a pretty small guy.

For reference, I am 5'7" and about 125 lbs. When I started weight training I was only able to bench press 87 lbs. and dead-lift 185 lbs. As of yesterday, I can now bench about 150 lbs. and dead-lift 235 lbs. I know this still isn't good, but this is quite an accomplishment for me.

The last time I ran I did a mile in 7:55. Now that's probably a bit lower, maybe around 8:30ish. I can do around 100 sit-ups and 50 push-ups in a two minute period and in the neighborhood of 15 pull-ups fresh. I don't know what the exact events are for the Navy PFT so those numbers might not mean anything.

I have somewhat bad vision. It's correctable to 20/20 with contact lenses but uncorrected it's ways off, although I don't know the exact numbers on it. Finally, I can't swim. It's something I hope to learn this June.

There it is- all the bad. I have a long way to go, and a little more than a year to do it. I joined this site to gain the knowledge and insight of BTDT's. Anything you can help me with would be appreciated. My current training consists of weight lifting each week day. I plan on starting a running program soon as well, just have to find something and set it in stone. I'm always currently on a "diet" to try to gain weight. As mentioned before, I'm about 125 lbs. and around 6% B.F. Just naturally skinny... I'm working on it.

There you have it, thanks in advance for whatever you can help me with. This is my inital entry, hopefully I can go a long way from here.

Thanks,

-Columbus

Welcome Aboard. Here is some advice. Use the search feature and read everything you can. If during your reading journey you formulate a question, write it down. After you have exhausted every thread of information post a question in the appropriate catagory. There are plenty of BTDT's willing to answer whatever question you may ask. Good luck.
