Got another question, Do EOD techs still go to Fort Benning For jump school or will we be going to the new Navy Freefall school in California. I was reading about it and sounds awsome going from ground school to jumping from 30K feet at night in 21jumps is amazing. I have 50 jumps and a "B" license and i still cant do night jumps yet in the civilian jumping community. So im just wondering if we go there or just to benning.

13k feet, no 30k jumps in the MF course. What command are you at, or are you just planning on being a tech...

Our class graduates next week and report to benning the next day. Two classes ago went to SD for jump. By the time you get here you would have a chance at CA, I'm sure, but maybe not. But, if you go straight from school, you'll just get the 4 or 5 day static course, not MFF. At least not straight out of the gate I don't think. Good luck.

Gator,
What day do you graduate? It's been a long road for you.

Chief,
I graduate one week from today...Wednesday, April 23rd. We just finished the helicopter dunker training today. I can't believe it's almost here. It's going to be a pretty incredible feeling. It has definitely been a long road and I'm so glad I chose to give it a second try. Best decision I've ever made.

Had my PRT and Interview with EODCS Trebble yesterday, just my hyperbaric pressure test and i can turn in my package, and asked this same question. he said it was hit or miss depending on if a class is staring up in CA or GA at the time. He also said that he would suggest Benning and then try to go to Yuma for CFF becuase its a much better course. Has anyone been to the Yuma jump school and give us some information about it. I've heard about it but not any real information about it.

Don't worry too much about jump school and where you'll be going. Just focus on getting your package done and all of that. Also, the school's getting a little tougher now as far as rollbacks go. I just talked to a couple of guys in the gym who were dropped after their first double tap because of their GPA and that was pretty early in training. It's a good thing, I think. I don't know if it's because of the new CMC or what. Anyway, not trying to be negative, but it's a long way to jump school. Good luck. Oh, and...for some reason I came on this site and it was logged in under my old screen name so...there that is.

Jump school is...painful. LOL! I took a pretty hard landing on my third jump. But, I made it and graduated. I was selected as honor grad for NCO's, which was pretty cool because I got to represent the Navy and Marine Corps contingent at an Army school. There is no describing the experience at Benning as a Navy guy. You have to experience it. The waiting in the harness shed, the waiting and waiting and waiting. One day we sat for 13 hours in the harness waiting for winds to die down and got up in the bird only to have to come back down due to darkness. It's a really big deal to a lot of these soldiers to make it through airborne training. Some of them wait years to come here and some reenlist just to go there and will never get paid for it since they won't be going to a jump unit. So, as a Navy student you have to understand that and give it the respect it deserves and they deserve. Also, in my platoon there were 7 or 8 navy guys. All of those army privates will come up to you and you will probably explain what Navy EOD is about 30 times a day, but they really look at you and you have to be conscious of that all the time. I had numerous privates and NCO's come up and say how great they though it was that we all had such comraderie and were always together and had a lot of motivation. We must have said Hooyah a thousand times a day. You really are representing the Navy and you can do a lot of good there.

Gator,
Hang in there! It gets better down the line. Just got back from Israel for the 60th Independance day. We had 150 jumpers from 14 nations. We did a drop from a C-130 into the Med. The Israeli Naval Commandos picked us up and brought us to shore; all in front of the whole city of Ashkelon! I was proud to be one of the few Navy Guys in a sea of Army. Water landings are what we do best. So at some point the tables do reverse and the Army was in our world.
Airborne !
