i was looking for diets for me to follow and i found the atkins diet, and was wondering if anybody does it if they could tell me if it works and what kind of recipes they use or used while they were on the diet. And if so if they could put them on this thread, i think im going to start it here pretty soon.

Im not on the Atkins diet, but what i do do is try to eat 6 times a day. 3 main meals, and three snacks all throughout the day. I got the idea from a Men Health magazine. Basically if you look at a food pyramid and just go off that to make your meals. I forgot which month that one was but that kind of eating helps me out. Your never too hungry or full. Take multivitamins too. Milk and calcium a big part so your bones can get strong for BUDS. Lots of water. and lots of water. haha. Thats what i try to do most of the time. Occasionally i'll go eat my favorite foods like pizza, cookies, the junk food you cant eat a lot of. I do that because i'll go crazy just eating perfect forever. You eat perfect for like 2 months but you been having that craving, for example some cookies then once u eat the cookies you'll start to beeng (overload) on junk food. Thats why i break it in once or twice a week. If you can go forever thats better but im not doing that.

i tried nutrisystem, and it was ideal for the bodybuilder. they basically make foods with least fats and optimum amount of protein. but all this isnt necessary. it all comes down to you.

Bryant the Atkins diet is not for an athlete.
Are you trying to lose weight, gain weight, or stay the same?

The Zone Diet and the Paleolithic/Caveman diet are perfectly compatible with heavy training. Crossfit endorses them.

Crossfit endorses a protein/fat/carbohydrate ratio of 30/30/40.

You don't need to follow any specific diet to notice improvements in fitness unless you are trying to lose a lot of weight. Eat vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, eggs, fish, meat, and don't eat a lot of grains and junk food...should work out for you.

Train harder eat less. Thats the only way. Drink gallons of water as well. Make it cold because the body has to heat it up and that makes it burn fat.

You have 808 after your name. You in da islands?

I posted this to the thread:
http://navyseals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=157351&page=2

I am 54, 5'10" and had bulked up with heavy weight training when I was "on the job" (Police) from 150 after the Navy to 185. I am now 165 and have a body fat of 17, with my latest Total Cholesterol of 104. I work out everyday aerobic and with weights every other day on progression to exhaustion. My diet is the key as I have always followed the Atkins diet with some modification. My energy level is through the roof and it helps with stress like crazy. Hope this is helpful.

Well now. Me and your Dad probably travelled thru the same ocean. I was at SDVT-1 04-06. Did some fun stuff. Best damn chow in the fleet is them black cylinder. Sleeping on torpedo racks has to go. The "Bed of Love" sucked(its the lower torpedo rack, filled with mattresses and sleeping nut to butt with your team mates for WEEKS).

To get back on topic, for those that are wondering the Atkins diet is a weight loss program which focuses on almost totally eliminating carbs. This includes some good carbs too, which Bud/s or any intense athletic training requires a lot of as a source of energy. Learn the difference b/t good carbs and bad carbs and eat accordingly, you NEED the energy. Carbs to perform, protein to recover, and fiber and vitamins, etc. to stay healthy.
