I’m currently finalizing a package to go EOD, just have to get my PRT, interview, and hyperbaric pressure test done, and i have a question about orders to your ultimate command. Are the orders just handed out to you after EOD School and you really don’t have any say or do you actually get a say in where you would like to go. Because i really want to get in with EODMU11 to get back to Oak Harbor, WA. So I’m just wondering if I get any say or if orders are just thrown at you.

MU11 is moving to San Diego. All west coast will be based in SD. Yes, you have some control over your orders. The detailer will send a list of available slots and your class will hash it out. At least, that's the way it goes now. It happens towards the end of school, usually in Underwater division. Good luck.

San Diego, Damn i was really hoping on getting back to Oak Harbor, loved it when i was younger and my dad was stationed there. Oh well at least you get some choice, probably like FC A where you all sat in a class and picked by some weird class order.

With that being said, the class that just got orders had som O's that did get orders to 11, but no enlisted. You're pretty far away from getting orders so just see what's going on when you get to the schoolhouse. Your student manager should update you on all of that. Good luck.

Finally got my packge done and e-mailed off last monday, the 19th. Now my question is how long till i hear something back and how are they going to respond back. Is it a simple e-mail or does a secure messge come through the IT's. Im really excited to fianlly have my package in, with over a year of fighting with my command to help me and get things rolling, and cant wait to hear back and head to school so any info is greatly appreciated.

Last time I spoke to the detailers they will not be actually writing orders for going to training until about the middle of June. Something about the physical year for them. I know the person I spoke to said he stakes them in order he recieves them that are accepted for training and once he can write the orders then he'll write them all. So I wouldn't expect to see any for a couple weeks but by all means call him and ask him yourself, that is part of the detailers job they do not mind answering those questions. If you do speak to him then you will know for sure because he would more than likely contact you when he does. Where as if you don't speak to him then you'll find out from you Chief when it goes down the pipeline.

FINALLY, i just got word from my command carrier counselor and found out ill be leaving for school in March 09. Now just lots of planning to do for continued training leading up to march and family planning but man i cant wait now. over a year of headaches and now i finally have a date.
