Hey guys I just discovered what the SWCCs are all about and I like it. I just signed up for an intermediate swimming class and I have access to a pool every morning before school. Does anyone have a swim workout that will take about an hour? And should I also run along with swimming?
Thanks

Look in the "Swimming" as well as the "Running" topic forums and you will find more than you ever wanted to know...to become a better swimmer you have to swim, to become a better runner you have to run...

Also i would look at the
"Tread water, Tread water, Tread water... with a brick" Forum....

don't forget to practice swimming in BDU's... swimming slick is only a small portion of what you'll be doing.

A single workout is not what you need. You need to vary strokes, and workouts in order to best get yourself in swimming shape. Here is an online source that can get you started
http://www.swimmingworldmagazine.com/swim-cgi/
The biggest key with swimming is having good form. There is nothing that will kill you faster than having excessive drag in the water. In addition, in the water your body acts as a wing. This means that if you have the correct form, your motion through the water should bring you to the surface, and you will not have to use energy upward, you can apply it forward down the pool.
I suggest asking your local swim team coach to watch your stroke and comment on it. Work on freestyle and breaststroke during your workouts since they will teach you the fundamentals of swimming before you apply it to Combat Side Stroke. Do sculling drills to get a feel on the water, and do not neglect sprint sets. Swimming, like any endurance activity only gets fast if you learn to sprint. If you are doing distance all the time you will not improve your distance times.
