What Michael Monsoor did to save his fellow warriors is, in my eyes, an act of supreme selflessness and sacrifice.

Thank you for your service and sacrifice Michael.

Thank you for sharing this, scskowron. It is sad that so many have given their lives. Equally disarming is that the media talks more about the latest Britney Spears drama than honoring and remembering our heroes, how they lived, what they stood for, and who they are defending.

Danodec, I couldn't agree more.

danodec man, that's how it is. Nothing we can do about the media, but we can honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice and pass it on as best we can. That's what really matters.

"A soldier is not dead until he is forgotten."
Let's never forget these men who willingly sacrificed their lives so we may live comfortably in our homes. They are resting in peace with God...

This was an e-mail I came across from the funeral...

During Mike Monsoor's funeral in San Diego, as his coffin was being moved from the hearse to the grave site at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery, SEALs were lined up on both sides of the pallbearers route forming a column of two's, with the coffin moving up the center. As Mike's coffin passed, each SEAL, having removed his gold Trident from his uniform, slapped it down embedding the Trident in the wooden coffin.
The slaps were audible from across the cemetery; by the time the coffin arrived grave side, it looked as though it had a gold inlay from all the Tridents pinned to it. This was a fitting send-off for a warrior hero. This should be front-page news instead of the crap we see everyday.

Here is the thread on Socnet http://www.socnet.com/showthread.php?t=78514 look under "TripWire" #1 post attachment to see the picture.
It is a sobering thing, a costly thing. This was a good man...
