I'm familiar with the cycle process of platoon workup and team training for let's say, 6-12 months, followed by the 6 month deployment. My question is, what is the 6 month "stand down" period like. Is that a time spent back in the U.S. at san diego or virginia doing misc. stuff? Is this a time when SEALs can usually take their allotted Navy leave? What happens during this period?
