Fruits, vegetables, whole grains (make sure the label says 100% whole wheat), brown rice, tuna, chicken, a little bit of red meat, beans, nuts, sea salt, seasonings (just watch the amount of sodium that they might have in them)and try to stay away from the packaged stuff like Hamburger Helper or those weird potato packets. Help me out...I know I'm forgetting something.

Whole Wheat Pasta
Dry, Pearled Barley
Legumes
Deep Green and "colorful" veggies
Olive Oil
All Natural Peanut Butter
100% Whole Wheat Tortillas
Sweet Potatoes
Boneless, Skinless Chicken/Turkey breasts
Tuna in water
fresh fish
97%/3% ground sirloin
MORE Deep Green and "colorful" veggies
That's pretty much EXACTLY what my shopping list looks like every other Saturday.

how much do you spend monthly on eating healthy? Do you get most of your carbs from green vegetables?

I'm from a smaller town, so they don't always carry everything. What are the main vegetables? would it include, tomatoes, lettuce, celery, carrots
What are the best fruits -
bananas, apples, oranges, kiwi?

All those questions depend on what your goals are. Do you need to make body composition changes? If so, what? Lose fat? Gain muscle? Neither? Both? Do you need to fuel athletic performance? I.E. are you work toward a race, BUD/s, or some other goal? Or, do you just need to drop some fat or gain some muscle? You have to be able to answer these kinds of questions before ANYONE can give you specific advice.
