Greetings to you all,

My good friend was the SEAL killed in the parachute accident in Arizona. The funeral will be at Arlington National Cemetery next week. I have an idea about doing something nice to show our solidarity with the family and the rest of the team members, but I want to make sure that it would be received that way. Who better to ask than SEALS themselves?

I'm unfamiliar with SEAL terminology so please forgive me. He was DEVGRU (formerly SEAL team 6). I wanted to buy the funeral guests a SEAL pin to wear on their suits/dresses etc in a show of support and appreciation for his sacrifice. But, I can only find the pins that say SEAL Team 6. I don't see anything that says DEVGRU.

Here are my questions:

1. Is it offensive to other SEALS to wear such a pin? Would it be considered inappropriate for civilians to do?

2. Any ideas on where to get a DEVGRU pin? All searches return SEAL Team 6 pins and I'm not even sure that they even use that insignia.

3. I was also thinking of making ribbon pins, but I am not sure of the insignia colors.

Thank you for your patience, time, and help.

What time will the Funeral be held? And on which day? Because I've planned on going to DC with a friend of mine and was wondering if I were up there on the date would I be able to attend as a civilian. Im not too far away from Washington.

The details are still being planned. I understand that it will most likely be on Tues or Wed but Arlington is still planning. I will post as soon as I know.

Could you transfer or write your post up again in the forum for Fallen Warriors and go ahead and start new thread for Funerals. This is valuable information to the community. My suggestion would be donation on his behalf to NSW Fallen Heros which will assist his children with college {pardon my ignorance if he does not have children} still a donation on his behalf would be good way to honor his memory.

Thanks
