Whatsup fellas? PJ wannabe here. I like the sealfit/crossfit combo on here. I've been waiting to get my hands on the equipment necessary to do this stuff and now i finally got a power rack, and a bar and bumpers are on the way. Just a few questions:

Did you guys get coached on the lifts at all? Or were the videos on the crossfit site enough? How would you go about practicing/learning them? Maybe do the lifts with barbell only for 2 or 3 weeks? Help appreciated.

Hey man, welcome.

As per your question: I personally have no formal training in the lifts. A couple of the guys on the site here have mentioned that they run into power lifters or oly lifters in the gym and ask for advice. I just watch the CF vids and mimic.

To practice, I always incorporate oly lifts in my warmups. I jump rope for two minutes, then 10 45lb snatches, 2 min on the rope, 10 45 lb cleans, jump rope, 10 jerks, jump rome, 10 thrusters. I try to be as aggressive as possible even though the weight is light.

If you're working out at home, this might help. If you're at a gym, ask if you see someone who knows what they're doing.

I got coached in the Oly lifts and it's a huge help. If you don't have access to coaching the next best thing is watching videos.
