I'm out in 29 palms, california (Desert) and the pool is shut down for repairs and there is no estimated time it will re-open. I'm trying to prepare for BUD/s and I need something to replace my swim work-outs. I've been told that rowing machines can provide an acceptable replacement but I was trying to find other methods that may benefit me more.

I also read that biking is an adequate substitute for swimming.

find another pool bro. Isn't there a YMCA or a 24 hour fitness or something within 30-45 min of your place? or a high school with a pool? they might let you use it if you tell them what you're training for.

the BUD/S Warning Order recommends biking twice as long as the swim is supposed to be. Rowing is kickass too.

Don't know if this one has a pool:

Otherwise the 29 Palms Holiday Inn shows to have a pool in their facilities.

Do you have a car or a bike? Palm Springs has a pool or two, even if you had to take a bus on your day off to get to Palm Springs or better yet just hop on your bike and make a long training day out of it.

Desertslug- Thanks everybody. I appreciate the feedback. After browsing the internet, which I should have done 1st, I also found an indoor pool at an RV park in 29 palms. I've been out here for 4 years and myself or my swimming buddies had never heard of it. It's off-base beside the golf course in town. They charge $50 a month or $5 a visit to use the pool facility.

This is awesome....I am in 29 Palms as well and was trying to solve the whole pool problem. The one on base has been closed for repairs and won't open for a while. The training tank is open.....but of course only for the marines. Any chance i can get the name of that RV park?
