My son wants to be A Navy SEAL. Of course I am very concerned for his safety. Any thoughts or advice from actual SEALS or other parents, etc.

Hang on...it's gonna be a bumpy ride!
As far as 'actual' advice goes, I really don't have any. The dynamics between every parent and their children is as different as, well, the parents and children themselves! However, if you have any particular questions or concerns, or just want to chat with another parent, feel free to contact me here, or at my email lacubita2002@yahoo.com.

First off, congrats on having a son with the ambition to take on this monumentous task.
As for advice.......the biggest thing is to be supportive, and dont show any apprehension when talking to him.
Remember, such a small amount of guys even make it through. If you dont show faith in him to do something then ya cannot expect him to have that faith either.
Read up and educate yourself on the training and the whole SEAL community. It is a special type of person it takes to complete this.
What ya really need to do is take any fears and concerns and roll them into pride. It can be done. I have a family member who is worried sick about it, but myself I take any of that fear and change it to intense pride.
I know, pretty lame advice but that is how I have dealt with the fact a family member who went to BUD/s.
One other bit of advice though....because the training is soooooo difficult and a vast majority dont make it I wouldnt be telling alot of people about it. Basically on a 'need-to-know' basis. THat is how we did it so when this person was around he wasnt getting bombarded by questions before he left.
Support him....and goodluck.
