I'm a long time reader of these forums, they have been an invaluable source of information and motivation for a BUD/S bound guy like me.

I have been training hard for about a year now, mainly focusing on my running and swimming because I have heard from countless sources that if you can't run or swim at BUD/S life will be much much more difficult. In the past few months I have been building up on my Push-ups, Sit-ups, and Pull-ups through the Warning Order program. I have been seeing good results and keep progressing.

Recently I have decided that my lower body and core were not getting enough work, aside from running and swimming I did very little leg work. I began doing some of the CrossFit workouts of the day and they have been helping.

My question is this, on the days that I do my Warning Order PT, by the time I get to my CorssFit workouts (if they are shoulder/chest) related I am pretty much spent already from doing Pushups and Pullups. My work schedule doesn't allow me to hit the gym multiple times a day, so I have about a 2-3 hour stretch of time in which to get everything done. What do you guys suggest I do, scale back my Warning Order PT, scale back the CF workouts?

Any input would be greatly appreciated,

Hooyah,
Thomas P.

Well what are your current PST numbers? It would be an easier way to judge where you are at now on a level playing field.

Nak2000,
The issue you bring up is a very common one. It's important to have a well rounded training regimen to be successful at anything as hard as BUD/S. The Warning Order is a great way to prepare for the PST and for the beatdowns in BUD/S, but the fact that BUD/S is now using CrossFit in every phase with less injury and better times on the timed runs, swims, and the o-course is a testament to the value of adding CrossFit to your program now.

Recently we at NavySEALs.com have launched a SEAL Fit Virtual Coach program that merges the CrossFit WOD with additional swimming, running, and PT, so that you not only get better at swimming and running, but also as a whole person. You can learn more about SEAL Fit virtual Coach at http://www.navyseals.com/node/1274

The benefit of getting your additional training in one place is that you don't find yourself working the same areas in your CrossFit and BUD/S prep training.
