Haha I do have good news and bad news for you brother. The GOOD news is that it normally only takes 2 weeks to heal if it is not severly ruptured. Of course that depends on how well you take care of your injury, i.e. stay out of the water and not equalizing as much. I know it hurts like hell but hey at least you didn't do it on your honeymoon like I did. I didn't even know I did it at first, mine didn't hurt until about 3 or 4 days after I did it. Now the BAD news is that you have to stay out of the pool until it heals. I know with you leaving so soon you are training like crazy but it is necessary for it to heal. Your Doc should give you some sort of ear drops to put in your ear as well. Make sure you do so because if you don't you will develope an infection in your ear. The reason I know this is because I was the hard-headed guy who swam anyway and didn't use the drops the way I was supposed to. Don't be that guy... it will just delay the healing process. I hope this helps.

I busted both of mine on separate occassions and yup it hurts like heck. I was two weeks and the only negative was I lost a bit of hearing at high end due to scar tissue. Like previous reply said do not go swimming too soon and use those ear drops religiously just like your supposed to. The pain should go away in a few days

Thanks for all the replys,
Josh and Matty, i was about 8 or 9 feet underwater and i got hit ( by another swimmer) in my ear and i guess it caused the water to kind of Shoot into my ear (kind of like if you were to push down on a plunger). Well the water shot a hole in my inner ear... The doc said it is not that bad cause it is a Centeral perforation, and it is about 15%.
Blenk and rsctt, I plain on doing everything in my powers to make this heal ASAP, yes they did prescribe me ear drops and i am already using them... My CCC talked to the motivators down in Coronado and they said i should still transfer down there so that is GREAT... The pain has actually subsided quite a bit, at first it didnt hurt at all... the only reason i knew something was wrong was cause when i went under water it felt like water was flowing into my ear... But i didnt care pain or no pain it is to close to my transfer time for me to not go to the ER and get it checked out... Luckly i did cause about 1 hour into my wait at the waiting room it started to hurt quite a bit, then after a while it hurt like heck... Real bad... But now i feel ok just a little discomfort.
Did your ears Bleed when it happened to you? Mine are not bleeding alot but there is still pool water coming out so every once in a while i put a tissue against my ear to help soak the water out, and its normally mixed with blood...
Thanks again for the help/ replys

i have really bad ears! I have ruptured my ear drum so many times because I was blessed with the curse of bad ears. Your actually not suppose to put any kind of drops in your ear until it heals up that is if your ear drum completely ruptured like mine did. Thats what I have always been told. It wont take long to heal though but like they said you definitly dont want to get any water in it. You can put cotton balls in there when you shower or those wax swimmers ear plugs. Layin on a heating pad also helps or taking a blow dryer and blowing in there for a little bit but make sure its not on high. It just helps soothe the pain if it hurts real bad.

Actually I had a lot of dried up blood in there but none came out until I showered and let the water go up in my ear. I would just stay out of the pool all together and just run a lot instead. That's good news about your orders though!

well mine busted due to ear infections so thats the difference. water in my ears don't mix. I cant even swim much because if I get water in my ears I get vertigo. i nearly drowned once because of it.
