As I understand it, SWCC NEC numbers are 5350 (basic) and 5352 (advanced). Am I right in assuming that after graduating from SWCC training the 5350 NEC would be assigned, and at some point in the future and given the experience level acquired, the 5352 NEC could be assigned?
If this is correct, would it also be correct in saying that a SWCC member could be assigned a 5352 NEC level without actually being promoted to a higher rate...he just has acquired a higher level of experience?
I'm curious how this works.

How it was explained to me is that after BCT you get the SWCC NEC 5350, and after completion of CQT you get the 5352 NEC... I am about 85% sure that thats how it works.

It used to be that SWCC guys would get out of SWCC school and have to earn their pin at their follow on command. The separation between 5350 and 5352 was the difference between a SWCC graduate without the pin and one with the pin. It still is, but you receive your pin before you get to your first duty station.
This NEC is not locked into your rate, but your degree of knowledge. Currently you can assume that anyone at a SWCC Team has 5352.

K,
How long normally does it take to get that NEC once you graduate, assuming I make it to that point in my career? I ask because I will be at 4 1/2 of 5 years by the time I am projected to graduate from CQT. Thanks.

Thanks folks.
Kinnikinik - I understand most of what you said, but the part about when the 5352 NEC is awarded went right by me. The SWCC grad gets the pin and proceeeds to his first duty station. Will he be a 5350 at that point and have to earn the experience level of the 5352 (if so, how long does that usualy take), or will he be a 5352 when he arrives at his first duty station after training?

Kinnikinik - nevermind. I found the answers I needed. 5350 NEC is awarded after BCT, and 5352 NEC is awarded after graduating CQT, so what you said was correct and when being assigned to the first duty station the new SWCC operator does have the 5352 NEC designation. Thanks.
