View Full Version : Tuesday 1/22 WOD
Post your time and comments.
If you can't find rings for push ups and dips, use dumbells for push ups, in order to get a deeper range of motion.
Do Front Squats if you cannot do Hang Squat Cleans. Check out the demo for HSCs on www.crossfit.com.

For the HSCs do we need to start with the weight on the ground for each rep or are we allowed to stand up with the weight and just clean it before going into the squat position?

Quick question on set up for this. Are you guys using two set of rings, or adjusting them between the pushups and dips? To save time I might do pushups on dumbells and dips on the rings (I only have one set and they do not have clasps to adjust quickly). Thanks!

Do it the way you mentioned. Changing the rings between each set is going to take too long and defeat the purpose of doing this for time. It's good that you have rings for dips.

This killed me. i could not get all of the dips done and i started at 95 lb for the HSC but took some off after the first 6 sets. i liked the work out though. 47:16. That is really impressive to all of you guys that got into the 30's and a big motivation for me

Enjoyed the workout and the break from running. I wasn't sure if 95lbs was going to be heavy enough, but soon found out that I was wrong.
Anyone know what time the WODs are posted? Sometimes I have to work out at 6:30 am, and was wondering if they were ever posted the night before or early in the morning?

Time: 33:00....This was a tough workout. I started off on a steady pace, but once I got into the higher reps, I slowed up. I think this is a great way to combine traditional lifting moves with body weight exercises.

damn, i felt really good about this one, until i saw these times, lol. only wasted time was walking to dip bars tho.
no rings, so did PUps on DBs and to not feel like i was cheating the WOD i did double dips so it looked like: 1(HSC):2(PU):4(dips) 2:4:8 3:6:12...10:20:40,etc.
time- 39:42
all PU sets unbroken, hooyah. HSC unbroken up to 7 and then 6 and down.
i got pretty heated tho, cause everytime i walked to dip bars i either had some guy "When are you gonna be done on the squat rack?" or someone just trying to outright steal it. what kinda world is it when someone just steals a guy's squat rack? lmao
btw, i really like those HSCs! nice explosive workout

P.S.---I'm playing Oregon Trail right now even though I should be doing homework....anybody remember that game, haha!
Anyways....I'm using you guys as the characters for our "wagon crew" and we had some minor scares recently.
Neumeister--Recently had a snake bite but he's okay.
Danodec--Has recently acquired measles and his status is questionable.
Alexmurray--Nothing exciting
Pipelinesurfer--Has contracted the flu, but he's okay.
**My Favorite**
King Henry VIII--Has irritable bowel syndrome (explosive diarrhea)
And I just went out hunting buffalo so there's food and everyone is happy...except King Henry who still has the sh!ts, hahaha.
LOL this was great B Hurb. I hope everyone is getting over their ailments haha. B Hurb, just tell me one thing...we caulked the wagon and forded that mo' ****in river!
Awesome times people. My time was 53:08. Yeah ouch. Went slow on the HSC and did them up to step 7, then I got a little squirrely so I did front squats up and down til step 2. This was my first time doing ring push ups and it was tough for me til about step 9 or so, then I got the hang of it and was able to stabilize myself better and crank through them. Did standard dips as there is no place high enough to put the "TRX" thing to do ring dips. Anyone got any tricks to do ring dips with the TRX?

I LOVED Oregon Trail! I used to just shoot the buffalo and rabbits basically the entire time.
I haven't been able to do my CF the past couple days because on Friday I bought a female English Mastiff puppy & she's only 8 weeks old so she is taking up a lot of my time. She sure is a great puppy though. Hopefully I'll be able to put something together as far as working out today after I put her to bed.

alright let me say that i do not have access to rings. therefore , after seeing everyone elses posts i feel like i cheated b/c i don't have rings.
my time was 19:52
hcs- no breaks
parallette pu's - broken up b/t 9,10,9,8, and 7
regular dips - broken up same as above.
i would also like to say that i have a background in olympic weightlifting so cleaning and snatching comes a little more naturally to me.
i will be investing in rings so that my time's are more accurate and a better measure to compare too.
btw, i sweat today like never before. thanks everyone for the motivation.
i swam the 500m in 8:44 today and am working my way towards 7:30. pumped up about that

Well sh!t, I hate these bodyweight workouts cause that's my weakest point. But I guess you gotta work on your weaknesses right?
Time: 33:30 (Pu's on DBs and Dips Regular)
I will say that I probably spent a good 5 mins total waiting for equipment. I was actually fighting an old lady to get the dip bars, lol. My HCSs were all unbroken and my push-ups were unbroken through sets 1-8 and 7-1 (going down). Dips need some work.
ON A POSITIVE NOTE...visited my recruiter today, will go to MEPS this weekend. I scored 95 on my preliminary ASVAB so I should be good there. Wish me luck guys, can't wait to be a part of the United States Navy!

I'm looking at going in around this time next year after I finish college, so most likely Jan./Feb. '09. I know the DEP max is 12 months but my recruiter (who is actually a really nice stand up guy) said that can be pushed back if need be, and my motivator said to not worry as well. Pipeline, what about you, my friend?
BTW, if any of you guys are looking to ship early '09 let me know and we can try to coordinate, never too early!:)
P.S.-this probably means I'm gonna have to sit in the crowd when Neumeister and co. and all you other @ssclowns going this summer graduate:mad:

well i talked to a recruiter and he told me about the APG program, basically if i complete 45 credits of college i go in as an e3. im in college now with 34 credits(17 pending), then after i do summer session ill have 47. so i plan on finishing summer, getting the 47, and joining shortly after that. i really cant wait. what about you, how are you going in, did you do nrotc or you going to ocs or enlisting?

I don't know what was wrong with me today but I experienced a ridiculous amount of muscle failure coming back down the pyramid. I couldn't get past round 8. I spent a solid 7 minutes on those last 16 pushups, had to break them up into sets of 1, which I STILL sometimes couldn't do. I could barely even lock out on the dip bar after that.
I'm upset and pissed. I knew my chest was my weak area but this is ****ing pathetic. I've never had one of these crossfit workouts beat me like this and it isn't a good feeling at all. It's humbling and shows I have a lot of work to do before I can seriously consider BUD/s. ARGH, I'm SO ****ing pissed...I'm gonna rip a new ******* into tomorrow's WOD.

Damn, all you guys under 30 minutes, 60 for that matter, are studs. I've been crossfitting for a year and a half and this one still kicked my ***. I have two sets of rings so one was set up for dips and one for PU's. The HSC's were a breeze, practically recovery but the dips and pu's killed me. I was doing kipping dips and solid pu's so i don't feel bad but they kicked my ***.
1 through 10 and back down 1:1 HSC 1:2 dips and PU's
100 HSC's and 200 ring dips 200 ring PU's

Pyramid to 10 of:
95 lbs Hang Squat Cleans
Ring Push ups
Ring Dips
Do a 1:1 ratio for HSC, 1:2 ratio for push ups and dips.
Workout Description:
Do 1 HSC, 2 push ups, and 2 dips, followed by 2 HSC, 4 push ups and 4 dips, followed by 3 HSC, 6 push ups, and 6 dips, and so on up to 10 HSC, 20 push ups, and 20 dips, then come down back to the bottom 1 HSC, 2 push ups, and 2 dips.
Didn't realize this would end up being 100 HSC, 200 Ring Pushups, and 200 Ring Dips. Never thought I'd say this but the Cleans were the easiest part. If it was just going Up the pyramid or down it would have been ok but both was just brutal. My triceps are fried this was like doing JT on steroids.
Time: 49:46 ouch
