I happen to follow it and I think it works very well. I am fairly loose with the guildlines but I like it. I think more than anything, it has helped my get "junk food" out of my diet. I can really tell a difference in my energy and endurance levels when I did this. I would try it for 2-3 weeks to see if it works for you.

from what I was reading, you will get the best results from actually measuring your food. So was just wondering if anyone takes it that far?

I don't follow the "Zone Diet", but, I have measured my foods for over a decade. For me, it's imperative to know exactly what's going into my body so i can control my body composition. Then again, I know that I'm the exception and not the rule.

Like it says in the reading, I measured my food for about 3 weeks, then you can start to be able to tell what you're putting on your plate without measuring. You tend to eat the same foods too, so that makes it easier in the long run. In regards to any kind of diet, I believe the more meticulous you are the better your results will be.

I'm not sure about the Zone diet's ratios, but I like eliminating carbs as much as possible, 0-50 grams.

I preform better on a zero carb, high fat, moderate protein diet than I do on any other diet, give it a shot for 2 months and see what happens.

About 8 weeks ago I decided that I would do a 2 month experiment to see how I responded to the zone diet coupled with the crossfit method. I decided to go all out with the experiment. I bought a scale and measuring cups and dove in head first. I had been crossfitting for nearly a year and had my ups and downs but for the most part had platued. I was hovering around a 3:45 fran and my strength was good. I weighed 265 lbs. 6 weeks into the zone. My weight is 245 my fran is 2:55 and my crossfit total (summation of maxouts in deadlift, squat, and shoulder press) has increased by over 100 lbs. Granted I have been training with improved focus as result of my experiment being in the back of my mind. But the gains and successes are undeniable.
