I am not sure but what is your reasoning on wanting to swim below the surface? You would swim much fast on the surface.

Holding my breathe causes me to get light headed and i tend to leave my mind behind and only use my body! Therefore my time is actually faster below the surface.

in that case you need to improve your swimming technique. With good technique your time under the water cannot match your time on the surface. If you want to be a SEAL, you do not want to leave your mind behind, you must be able to think and act quickly with decivivness both in and out of the water. Causing yourself to get lightheaded under the water will place your own and others safety at risk.
There is no need to post the same question more than once in a different thread. It will be read and replied to just fine in the first one.
Best of luck.

What swim strokes are you using for below and above the water? When you get to BUD/s and you have to swim a mile or more you might be in some trouble.

Do you have to use the Combat Side Stroke for the PST? What about while in BUD/s on the ocean swims etc. I swim in high school and my free-style is very strong, will I be able to choose which stroke I use?

Ok, thanks. I don't mind breast-stroke. I guess even a free-style background should help anyway, through comfort in the water, breath control etc. What do you think?

When you learn how to do a combat swim stroke correctly you will see that its much more efficient then free style. On my best day could never swim the distances free style that I can with the combat stroke.
