Im looking to drop some weight then build it back up as muscle to be prepared for the Seal Fit program and the Seal Challenge. I currently am 5'11'' 195lbs. I work 84hrs a week on a very busy metro ambulance service. The people at the Vitamin Shoppe recomemded Jet Fuel since it has the extra stimulant properties that I need for energy with my schedule. The guy also said that it tricks my body into believing that stored fat cells are carbs and burns them off. Is this correct? Should I be taking this supplement at all?

I am a Fitness Director, a SEAL by no means, but this post made me reply. The Vitamin Shoppe employee neglected to ask you important questions, such as: how does your body respond to caffeine?, and do you have high blood pressure? He wants to make the sale on the latest product that gives him a better bonus or is the product corporate is pushing. I have seen a similar product pushed on an older woman, who clearly had no business taking the stuff. Stay away from the stuff. If you want to be a SEAL as I do, then you need to do it naturally. As I understand it, you will not be able to take it at BUD/S, and your body will go through some nasty withdrawl when you do try to quit. I have been a competitive bodybuilder and taken ephedra back in the day, you don't need the stuff and it will only screw up your metabolism. If you take it and quit, you will gain back the weight and it will take much longer for your metabolism to try to correct itself. All natural sucks, but you can get better results by proper nutrition and feeding yourself the right foods at the right times. Just my 2 cents hope it helps.

I have to agree with jhethics. As a Police Officer (canine handler & tactical operator) I understand your 80+ hour work week. You can correct me if I am wrong but many of us in emergency services fall into the trap of eating poor and not hydrating enough. The leading cause of day time fatigue in adults is poor hydration.

The supplement you were sold could actually dehydrate you more. You may have have energy for a period of time but then you will crash. It is best to try and get yourself into a more regulated nutrition program and ensure you are drinking plenty of water all day. I actually hung a 100oz hydration pack from the back seat of my crusier so I always have a fresh supply. I don't usually drink it all in a shift but 1/2 of that is plenty on an average day. Good luck. Stay Safe.
