Ok we've been treading water quite a bit here in the last couple weeks but I'm really sucking when we have to start holding sandbags etc. Anyways how exactly does that go in BCT? What do you wear, how long, etc. ? Also my 500 yard swim time with BDU top and bottom and my booties today was 16:20.

The brick treads suck. They suck for the majority of the class. We started off with just a normal tread. UDT's moving on up to camies and boots. They make you do the scissor kick, and frown heavily, wont let youdo the egg-beater. As for the weights they are a M4 shape for a minute(failing if any part touches the water) and a brick. The brick is 9 lbs. Im sure the treads didnt last over a couple minutes. Doing it multiple times. Depends on the inst. at the time. But you have to tread holding it out of the water. Its a good time. As for the BDU swim, dont really worry about the time. Just get comfortable with it.

Treading trying to hold the sand bags out of the water for me has been pretty difficult. All I do is the scissor kick I can do it no problem with my hands on my hip but when I put them on my head I sink to just below the water then I can't seem to get back up much less hold the sand bags or volleyball or whatever Chief has us use that day. I'm pretty comfortable swimming in bdu's I haven't done it in boots yet, I got a set of bates 922's on order. Thanks for the info.
