I know there's a lot of threads concerning ITBSyndrome, but I have a more specific question. Does anyone know if knock knee can result from either a torn MCL or ITBSyndrome? I tore my MCL years ago and it's fully recovered, and I'm currently dealing with ITBSyndrom--these two issues shouldn't be that major except that I've noticed I've developed knock knee in my troubled knee which, I understand, is potentially a much bigger problem (with the only solution possibly being knee osteotomy). Does anyone know if knock knee can be related merely to ITBSyndrome and if, when ITBS is fixed, the knock knee could be fixed also? (I'll be seeing another physical therapist in the future but am seeking immediate information if anyone has it)
I'm early on in college and thinking about joining the military after I get my degree. Just wondering if anyone else has dealt with, or knows anything about this since it could prevent me from qualifying for programs.

it's possible -- but i question how likely -- that a 'knock knee' would result from either ITB syndrome or an old MCL tear. i guess it's worth checking out, since it sounds like only your injured knee is knock-kneed.
up to a point, SYMMETRICAL knock knees and the opposite, bow legs, are normal variants ... especially in children and adolescents at varying stages of development.
however, you're a bit older than that. if indeed only one of your knees is angled inward, that's cause for concern -- it's a sign that something is amiss, however minor. you not only have to worry about correcting the knock knee, you [and your doctor] have to address possible causes.
these can be nutritional, like rickets, but that is rare here in the land of milk & honey. there is a condition called achondroplasia, which is just a fancy medical term meaning 'abnormal skeletal development,' that may be to blame.
i am an ER guy, not an orthopedist. so you should consult an orthopedist to be certain. since you have had an MCL tear you are/were probably under the care of one already.

Great post JM.
Anon, i wholeheartedly agree here, this is more than enough, from the sounds of it, to go and see an orthopod and get his opinion. Especially since you have had trouble in this area before.
