Hey everyone, this is my first post. I just realised that I might be colorblind. I found this online test, and although I can make out what the shapes, and numbers are shown, but not clearly. I cat tell for instance that this one is a sailboat(http://colorvisiontesting.com/online%20test.htm#Test%20Card%20Number%203) but If it didnt show the boat on the side I wouldnt be able to. How does this look to the rest of you? Also could someone give me a thorogh breakdown of the test they give you in the navy, with number of plates, passing scores etc?
thanks

i'm not really sure what you're talking about in regards to "number of plates, passing scores etc" but I went to MEPS yesterday and the colorblindness test was very simply. It was about 4-6 "flashcards", if you will, of two-digit numbers... 28, 29, 36 etc. rattle them off as fast as you can, it took probably less than 20 seconds. That's basically all it was. I'm not sure if that's what you were looking for, but hopefully it might help answer your question.

also, the numbers were enclosed in a circle. so a purple circle with '29' in red. something like that.

I've know my whole life that I was colorblind, and failed every test on this site. I cannot see the boat, or any numbers.
Sounds like you are colorblind, but perhaps not severely. Your optometrist might have a more extensive test if you want to know more details.

Yeah I can see all of the colors, I think it was more of a problem with putting the pattern together. And yes the flashcards were exactley what I was talking about, I was wondering if anyone knew how many you had to get right. But it doesnt matter, like I said I think im just having a problem putting the pattern together. I can see most of them, its just the boat that gave me trouble.

Top Hat,
Based on what you said I believe we suffer from the same degree of color deficiency. I am not in the Navy but I have been to MEPS and when I was there I had to look at the book as well and only got one card correct. However, there is a secondary test - The Falant Light Test.
The test consists of identifing two light colors of three choices from approx 10ft. It is almost like a mini lighthouse with two lights stacked on top of each other. The lights are small, like a christmas light - maybe smaller. Upon request you will identify the top color and the bottom color.
The 3 colors are - red, green, white.
They will give you approx 10 combinations.
I got all ten correct and PASSED the vision test.
If you can pass this test you should get your contract.
Hope this helps.

Belcher,
I hope that you read this. I went through MEPS today and encountered the same thing as you. I got 9/14 PIP pictures correct and then I got 9/9 on the FALANT exam. However, they still would not give me a SEAL challenge contract saying that I was disqualified. Were you able to get your contract? My recruiter asked me also if he could talk to your recruiter to find out what you guys did to get your contract. Any help would be appreciated. You can email me at: alexsmurray@gmail.com
Thanks
Alex
