Barratiero??? What gives Sea?

SeaSpecter: Several threads on this site have been wiped out, I'm assuming because they were offensive or too argumentative, or too personal, or off topic, or boring or whatever (generally, I am not a fan of censorhip, but you guys make the rules, so . . . whatever). But none of the ones that I know of that were wiped out were as downright sh--tty as the one by Barratiero, and it's still here. What gives? If any thread needed to go, that one did. Just my thoughts.

Ever heard of a PM? Rather that drag me and Barratiero through the mud publicly----please use the PM feature. I am only one man, and its difficult to get to everything all at once(I have a life outside of the forums, too). Let me have a look.

Pammy10s ~ In order to send SeaSpectre a PM do the following while logged in. Click on "my account" in the upper right of the NSC site, either the forum page or the community page. Your "main" page will come up. Click on Messages, this will take you to the intersite email system. On the right hand side of the page you will see INBOX SENTBOX COMPOSE, click on Compose. The next page that come up will be the email page. Simply type in SeaSpectre in the "TO" box enter yuour subject and then compose your PM/Email to Sea.

Hope this helps you out.

I'm confused with what this exactly has to do with Pammys10 post to Sea? Illi, this belongs in The Jungle, not here.

Have to say that if you think the above isn't dragging people through the mud publicly....you are sadly mistaken here. Be careful....in case you haven't seen this before take the time to read it.....it's plain and simple.

well, i just wish his methods of removal applied to everyone. just because he is moderator, i suppose, we are not entitled to disagree personally, and need to go through other channels to voice our opinions

The jungle only exists to paying members. Since it exists to keep bickering from jumbling up other threads, I do think it should be open to all members so that disagreements can be moved there. I did mention this to Sea and he said he'd try to get that addressed. I also mentioned the need for a general sort of catch all forum for non-paying members. Hopefully, those two changes will occur in the near future.

Hey Illi ~ To make the majesty shorter for you from now on try this...HRH. :D

I don't believe this is the case at all. There is nothing wrong with people disagreeing with one another. The problem is the way in which the disagreeing escalates. Not one of us at NSC is perfect, not by a long shot; however there are those here who feel that they are walking talking know-it-alls and can say what they want, to whom they want and in any fashion that they choose.

To blatantly attack SEALs who post here or any member of the military who posts here is reprehensible behavior and should not be condoned at all. Furthermore to insinuate that the medical professionals who also post here don't know what they are talking about is just plain idiotic.

The actual problem was not that people disagreed it was the demeaning manner in which counter posts were written. There are times when it's not what you say.....it's how you say it.

There is a proper and civil way to voice your disagreement with another individual.

For some strange reason this saying keeps popping into my head....STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES.

I have to disagree with you on this, Courtenay. I prefer the Jungle to be for paid members only. It was at the previous site and worked fine. And this General Talk area is fine for general chat by both paying and non-paying members. If there's an issue, let there be a dedicated thread for that issue in the General Talk area. It keeps the other threads clean.

If you give up the Jungle, then the Hootch is the only forum specfically for subscribers. JMHO...

I think paying members only need the Hooch personally. I think there are lots of goodies which this new site offers that could offered to the paying members only. Such as the expanded profile pages, private messaging, blogs, gallery. I also think that making those items paid benefits will generate a whole lot more interest from non-paying members than a couple of forums.

There needs to be a fighting forum available somewhere for the non-paying members. If not the Jungle....then something. KWIM?

Just for the record, I wasn't trying to drag ANYBODY "through the mud," least of all SeaSpecter. Barratiero's post speaks for itself. I was trying to figure what gets censored and why, which Sea explained to me off-site (I would have done it privately, but had technical difficulties). There have been plenty of threads here where people mixed it up, in both constructive and not so constructive ways (I noted one where the posters threatened to physically fight each other). There have also been threads deleted that weren't all that inflamatory. I don't know who deleted them or why (so I am not accusing anyone of anything!). The reason I asked the question was because I assumed that posts that patently insult the SEAL community would not be tolerated. There are ROEs here, just like anywhere else, but they sometimes appear to be a moving target. I'm just trying to figure them out and hope that their consistently applied. That's it. If the rule is "don't question why a post gets deleted, we have our reasons" so be it. But in my mind, it's a fair question.

Again, for the record, I think the team here does a good job with a fun site.
