..OK , never been close enough to actually examine the piece, closest I get is the photo on the back of Colburns`book,...I was wondering, Is the piece one solid cast, or do they take the time to assemble it useing individual small casts pieces, wich would make it a work of art ?

Is this about just the pin? If thats the case, its just a one-piece casting.

Sea,....If ya feel up to it,......

.....I`ve looked on other places and still don`t have a definite reason as to why the Eagle is the only one remaining of all the Navy pins that looks ......Left !! ??

Coincidence..sheer coincidence. I guess you COULD go to BUD/s and get the whole history lesson!

odd- i don't think the eagle is looking left (if that is what you are trying to say) if anything it is looking right. because if you put yourself in the eagle's position, the head would turned to the right. But because the top of the anchor is in the way, they had to put the head somewhere... and about the head of the eagle, the only thing interesting that i have heard about it is that every thing else that has an eagle on it, the head is held high, EXCEPT on the Trident. The head is bowed low as a sign of respect for those who gave their lives as operators.

Ok,..that`s a point that I missed....The heads are high on others.

I read on another site that the Eagle is looking at your sword arm...(right) and before the Navy had both ways set on their pins,....Then the code was installed to have the old way....(right),....on all their pins. That`s why I asked if it was assembled in small casts, cuz you could angle the anchor if that were the case. Anyway,...of all I`ve read so far on it,....it just seems like the Trident slipped passed the Brass !!

.....I don`t think they should change a thing,....it`s a nice piece of gold !!

I think I know my confusion,....it must be the direction is related to the way the person wearing it sees it rather than a person who is viewing it on them !!

If you look even closer you can see the pistol is ****ed and ready to fire, too.

Maybe the eagle's head is lowered like a lion getting ready to attack. It keeps a low profile and squints its eyes, as to not show as much white, then waits for the perfect moment, then unleashes hell.

But, in respect for the fallen is a more pure, honest meaning.

I thought I read somewhere that the eagle head is lowered to show how humble the operator wearing it is.

i believe it's head is lowered as a sign of respect for those who wore the Trident, and gave their lives for it...

That sounds like the best reason I've heard yet. Certainly the most noble.
