I talked to the SWCC motivator and my recruiter today and they are saying that because I have 20/400 uncorrected vision I will need to take my passing PST scores and eye waiver to RTC and go for SWCC there. According to these guys the Navy won't except my package before I ship because my eyes, but if I apply after I ship then they will do the surgery for me after I graduate.
I have read in the other articles that this is a bad way of joining the NSW program because I could get overlooked, but I really don't have any other option. My PST scores were decent and I am in better shape everyday. Is there anything I can do to make sure they convert me to SWCC when I get to Illinois?

get the waiver before. i know guys that had eye surgrey right before they classed up for swcc. get the waiver now, make your recruiter work for his money. it will be easier, you will have a better chance now i imagine.

Hulk is right. Don't just take what he is offering you----it sounds like a load of BS to me. See about corrective surgery before going in if it's possible.
Do yourself a favor and be sure everything your recruiter is documented. He will be a little more apt to be completely honest, and work harder for you.

By classed up are you talking about RTC or BCT? My recruiter is getting the waiver for me already, does he need to actually submit it now?

I have talked to a couple people that are just finishing BCT right now and they said that most people get their eye surgery done between RTC and BCT. If my application to SWCC got turned down before I shipped would I still have the chance to switch to SWCC at basic?

Maybe, but you lose alot of your bargaining power. If you have to, get in the Navy and then work things out. Preferably, get your stiff straightened out before you sign a contract and before you ship.
