I can hold my breath for about a minute but is there any drills/workouts that would help build up breathing muscles even more besides using the power lung

THere are some drills you can do when you are swimming. My favorite is just doing underwater swimming for how long you can go (make sure someone is there to watch)...plus during your swimming you can do normal freestyle and only breath every 5 or 7 seven strokes. I find swimming to be the best for lungs

Hmm. A couple of workouts for the lungs I do (im not the master at lung capacity at all but it works). This one you can do on land or in class :P. hold your breath for about 45 seconds. Then hold it for a minute. Then hold it for a 1:25 then hold it for 2:00.

Or what I do is 25 meter sprints freestyle holding my breath (make sure there is someone watching you : disclaimer :P) But don't do it after your all worn out. Do it when your fresh or you won't make it half way. And when I say sprint I mean all out. The entire point of this workout is to get your muscles used to working on less oxygen and therefore they become more efficient in the way they use it, because they are being forced to.

you shouldn't be doing any of this in the pool. the only way to hold your breath longer is to hold your breath longer, but you can do it on dry land with a stopwatch.

exercise good judgment, don't be dumb and do it in the water. that's just asking for trouble.

You are no fun whatsoever!

I say go to a pool, make sure no one is around, then go underwater and hold your breath as long as you can.........

you have no idea.

darwin does have a grotesquely beautiful way about him. we see it over and over again on these boards. remember the kid who used to get towed by a truck?
