I know there are thousands of threads about vision. But what if your an officer. When you get recommended for BUD/S or however it goes down, do you have to get Navy PRK or LASIK then wait a year until you can start? What if an officer got LASIK or something at USNA...will they DQ him for that, or since its under the Navy is it acceptable?

Trying to revive this.. let me restate this.
If you get LASIK or PRK for the United States Naval Academy, will you get it done by a Navy doctor?
Is this acceptable for BUD/S?

i really don't understand what you're saying, but i'll give it a stab:
it doesn't matter if you're E or O. the vision requirements don't change because physical req's aren't rank-dependant.
if the navy pays for your surgery, AND you have a waiver, you're fine. you have to comply with whatever the waiver and requirements (that are "currently" in place when you get the waiver) state.
if you choose to run off and have anything done on your own, you're 100% responsible for knowing whether or not it falls under the req's, and if you need or don't need a waiver for it.

I mean...if you get it done from USNA's request, will they send you to a Navy doctor?

if they REQUIRE it of you, they may or may not offer to fund it. IF they pay for it, yes, they will send you to the doctor of their choice. if you don't like that doctor, you either pay for it yourself or you're sol.
