I heard about the chocolate milk craze and the 4 to 1 carb to protein ratio, and it surprised me to hear of its effects on recovery. Does anyone know if it's the actual ratio itself that works meaning i can EAT a 4:1 ratio snack or mix a protein-ish type shake to achieve the same results?

turns out the study was very small and funded by the dairy people. and the study in fact chocolate milk only proved ot be as effective as gatorade but not more. and gatorade has had countless studies invested in it.

Yes but it's soooooo good...haha
Chocolate milk is good if thats all you've got. Whole foods (like milk) are good most of the time, except post workout.
You want to get the protein & carbs in your system within an hour of working out. Your body can take SEVERAL hours to digest the nutrients in milk (and other whole foods), thus you wont be getting them to your muscles for several hours.
Try ~35g protein in water, and 16-20oz gatorade for a post-workout drink. Drink more gatorade if its a really intense workout.
just my opinion

crod-- again, what are you talking about?
milk is pasteurized. look it up and see what that means.
to the rest of you, search topics like "milk," and "gatorade" on this site. see what you can see, or what you can add.
