Hey Kklingman, two questions for you my friend:
1) I remember you recommending your own personal pull-up program to me about doing 70-80% max sets once a day and re-evaluating after several weeks. How many days per week do you do this? 5? 6?
2) When do you graduate college, or rather when would you ideally like to ship for Indoc? If we're anywhere close, I may try to get in the same class as you.

BHURB, it's generally 5 days a week. As for college, I am seriously considering dropping out because I've been unhappy with my classes for the past 3 years and it appears to be the same this year. So if I drop out I'll probably go to boot sometime in the beginning of 08. If I stay in college and stick it out I won't be going to boot until spring of 09. What about you?

I'm looking to get a spot in INDOC. around april of '08. I figure that gives adequate time to prepare, let me know when you guys are looking, it'd be nice to know some familiar faces when we show up to get *** raped by the cadre.

It depends for me. As of now, I'm scheduled to graduate Spring '09, but there's but if I plan right I think I could be out by Winter '08 (a semester early). I'm thinking I may do that, spend a month or two at home, and then ship off for boot maybe sometime in January or February.
Oh, and Kling, I'm in a similar position to you in regards to hating classes. Pretty much ever since I became obsessed with and embraced becoming a SEAL, classes have been nothing but a nuisance. What are you majoring in? It can't be more boring than business, which is what I do. However, I see no reason to call it quits when I'm 3 semesters away from graduation. Thats really not that long. Plus, if there's one thing I fear more than BUD/S, it's my mom, who would kill me if quit college early. So if I were you (which I'm not) I'd stick it out, since you've already come so far. If nothing else, you get a pay raise (if enlisted) and I hear it's a lot easier to get into OCS if you want to start out as enlisted. Also, my brother said that a masters degree helps you out with officer advancement as well. His engineering masters is literally cutting his time to make it to captain in half (he's currently a 1st LT in the Air Force).

I'm a history major. Which means about 3-4 hours of reading every day of the most boring **** you can imagine. Oh yeah, and I don't do the reading because I absolutely hate reading boring ****. I'm sorry you fear your mom. My parents don't want me to drop out but seeing how neither of them went to college and they're not paying my tuition, it's my decision to make. As for the pay raise, you can only enlist as high as E-3 and you only need 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours to do so. I've got 74 semester hours. As for OCS, I have no interest in becoming an officer. So what if they get like double the salary of enlisted guys. I'm not doing it for the money. Plus I can always finish college after I'm done being in the Teams (thinking positive) and have the Navy pay for it. I'm just sick of being unhappy.

Hey man, that's cool, I'm sure you know what you want better than anyone and that you will decide what's best for you. I don't fear my mom, but it was sort of a verbal contract I made with her before I went to college. I promised I would graduate, so that's what I'm doing. I also plan on going enlisted. My dad (army background) wanted me to do Rangers and my bro tried to get me on to Combat Control or Pararescue, since he's Air Force. They both tried to play the "officers get more money" card on me but it didn't work, which was good in a way because it assured me that this is what I want. Anyways, whatever you decide, be sure to let us know and maybe I'll see you someday in the future! HOO YAH Navy SEALs!

B HURB! I will definitely keep you and everyone else who cares updated. Oh and for the pull-up routine. It's just 1 set per day, 70-80% of your max. 5 days a week.

Hey guys, just a word of advice for you to take with a grain of salt but it probably is a good idea to finish school off now (unless of course you absolutely can't take it anymore). I just "graduated" from RIT with a 3.4 GPA Bachelors in Microelectronic Engineering. I'm working now full-time in a field not even remotely related to my major and only doing it for supplemental income in order to train in the mean-time. I say "graduated" because I have ONE class left. I literally couldnt take it anymore and just got out while I could but even though I would love a piece of paper for my 215 credit hours, I just can't even stomach the thought of going on campus anymore. So, if you're anything like me (and I assume we're all moderately nuts for choosing this career), I'd say stick with it and finish it off while you can. The NAVY is gonna pay it all back and as much as no one wants to ackowledge it, if you do get injured and can't perform anymore, it's always good to have a backup plan set in stone. I'm still looking at an early '08 deployment but I say if we can get a bunch of guys together I'm willing to push it to make a class with some other guys from here. Let me know what you guys decide.
