hello, i am currently 6'6'' and weigh 185 pounds. i have been working my *** off running 3 miles in a little under 17 minutes every day and doing several sets of 100 situps along with sets of 40 pushups. ive been doing this for a couple months and see some results but im gonna have to put a lot more meat on my chest and arms if im gonna have a shot at doing all the pull ups a SEAL needs to do. any advice from my fellow giants?

first of all, there is no ideal body type for a SEAL. Unless you get told otherwise by some dude on here (i forget his name) who says the ideal SEAL is 5'10" and 170 lbs. So you're 6'6" and you're a ****ing stick, a bean pole if you will. That sound about right? If you want to put on the meat you have to eat. Eat a lot and eat often. I would say a meal every 3-4 hours. Now when I say meal I'm talking at least 500 calories. Eat clean, obviously. Whenever you can't get a meal in, chug 2-3 cups of chocolate milk. chug some chocolate milk before bed too. As for pull-ups i'll send you a thread where I posted a very decent workout where I've seen results.

if you have any more questions just post them.

Is that all you're doing for a workout? First of all, you should really vary your workouts to avoid boredom. Also, just doing situps and pushups and running won't adequately prepare you for BUD/S, no matter how many you do.

driven, do the crossfit WODs supplemented with your sets of 100 sit-ups and 40 push-ups and 3 mile runs and some swimming too. just make sure you eat a ****load otherwise you'll lose weight doing all that endurance work.

yea sorry i guess i didnt specify. i do more than just run and push ups and situps. i do russian twists, planks, flutter kicks; just various ab work. ive just been concentrating on what the instructors would be pushing me to do. pull ups, running, pushups, situps, flutter kicks, etc. its gonna be tough taking in the necessary calories to build muscle mass seeing how i am a college student. i will probably have to invest in some protein mix. thank you for the feedback thus far.

what does being a college student have to do with not getting enough calories? Do you mean you're lacking in the $$? Or you have so many classes that it's hard to get a meal in? Protein mix won't do it, you should look at some sort of weight gainer. i've never had any weight gainers so i can't offer my advice on them, though.

Great dietary information for physically active college students. I am a college student to and this helped a lot. As far as you being to tall that’s bull. Think of it this way. You probably cover twice as much ground running than us average folks!

don't sweat ypur body type, big guys have their strengths and little guys have their strengths....work on your WEAKNESSES!!!

by the way, in Mr. Couch's book "The Warrior Elite" There was a guy who graduated BUD/s and eventually became a SEAL, who was a little taller than you. (but i think there is a height limit..i'd look into that)

yes the point i was trying to make with being a college student is that i no llonger have time for a job so i cant buy as much food as i used to. ive been eating a bagle and donut for breakfast with milk, turkey sub for lunch, and either a sub or some pizza for dinner. i fear im not taking in enough calories but i guess it'll have to do.

try 'Mass XXX' from GNC. Its cheap and a very good product. When mixed with 2% milk, its got about 1100 calories and 66 grams of protein, plus other vitamins and nutrients needed. The choclate kind tastes pretty good when mixed with milk. I'm 6' 2" and i weigh in at about 185. i had problems putting on weight because Navy chow isn't the best and my ship is strict on portion control.

I'm in the same boat as you, though I'm pretty short. College student without time for a job and not enough money to buy everything I want. I'd skip on the donuts, they're horrible for digestion. Personally I eat a lot of peanut butter, nuts, milk, meat, anything with grains especially bagels and pasta. Subs are good.

Also I'd suggest the GNC weight gainer too. I've been having some every day for about 2 months now and I've put on some muscle. Surprisingly I've barely gained a pound but my muscle mass and endurance has increased tremendously. It's expensive for a whole jar, but calorie-for-calorie it's not a bad deal.
