Hi I'm 21 yrs old... My height is only 5'5 and currently underweight, but I'm doing everything to gain some weight...
So my question is, am I too small to be a SEAL, or even try out for it, even if I achieve the right weight?

I read the book "Finishing School" and there was a guy who was 5'2" and weighed only 115 lbs at the end of BUD/s I believe. I have been talking to some motivators in San Diego and they say size is not the biggest issue. What you want to work on is your strength to weight ratio. Sure being bigger is going to help you carry that 65 pound sack, but if you are big and cannot do, lets say 100 push up, 100 sit ups, or 20 pull-ups then who cares. I am very small too (5'8" 135-140 lbs) but every motivator, recruiter, and SEAL i have talked have never said I was too small. That is why I love these cross fit workouts. Anyone, any shape and size can do them since they are all relative. There are no weight max out sets, just how many can you do or fast can you do it. Again, just work on the core (push-ups, sit-ups, and pull-ups) and you will do very well. Also, run A LOT and swim A LOT.

yeah...it was a cool story about this guy he gained a little weight after BUD/s, but toughest SOB i ever heard of. Couch ever went back and talked about him later in the book, so no idea what he went on and did. He might have mentioned his name, but I don't remember. I took a tour of the compound too, and most of the guys were not that stereotypical 6'0" 190lbs. They were all ripped, and pretty average size. I didn't feel too small (I'm a cross country runner, so upper body size yeah, but not height). Both of Couch's docs were really good.

Mgsxmike, you should really look into the autobiography by Lt. Commander Michael J. Walsh. This guy was only 5'4" and 125 pounds when he made it through BUD/s. He was a very accomplished operator in Vietnam and also proved very successful in the CIA's Phoenix Program. The name of his book is 'SEAL!' and I'm sure you would really enjoy it.

Dirty name is one of the obstacles on the O-course.
