I bought some Thrusters at my local dive store and find that it seems like it really weighs on my ankles to use them. Has anyone else thought that swimming with fins is much harder? or perhaps my fins are not made for what I am doing? My legs don't even hurt. My ankles hurt before my legs even get close to tiring.

Are you flutter kicking and wearing booties? If so progress slowly and let your ankles build strength.

I've noticed it too. Fins seem to slow me down and make it harder on me. My legs don't get tired either. I don't know.

It also comes down to your swim stroke and form. Once you perfect those, the fins should further increase your efficiency in the water. Just practice, it took me a while to get used to them too.

Type of fin will also make a difference. It may help to use a different fin until your ankles are stronger, then move towards the ones used in BUD/S. I know the rocket fin is super heavy, so it may not be the best one to begin with.

I used Speedo training fins before I moved on to Rockets, the fins that I now use when diving. It's very difficult to try to learn on stiff fins. Your feet feel like they're moving very slow but you're actually moving much faster. Take long, powerful flutter kicks when doing the SS/CSS.
