Question

I'm not yet in the Navy, but my brother is. He told me that i should get a rate and go through A school to get a job secured before i go off to BUD/s. Is he feeding me a load of crap, or should i do that so i don't end up chipping paint off of a ship? I am a junior in highschool and wanted to know if I should go to get a SEAL comtract, or something else like an MA contract then send it up the chain of command that i'm going to be a SEAL.

I don't believe you always enter the Navy undesignated if you sign the SEAL Contract and drop from BUD/s. If you want to be a SEAL more then anything.. then sign the contract, because it is very possible that you will have to spend several years in the fleet before you get to send in your BUD/s package. I am sure some actual SEALs or people in the Navy will be able to give you more detailed advise.
