Hey guys, Im looking to be a SEAL and im 16. Im going to join the Navy when i graduate high school. Which is hard for my family to grasp because i come from a long line of Marines. Im going to be a junior this year. Im starting to train for SEALS and i have been looking up training in BUD/S. My question is i am 6 foot 3 and pushing 245 pounds. Some of it fat. Am i too big to be a SEAL?
My stepdad always says they need a big guy to hump equipment but can i get some input?
thanks to all!

I don't think you're too tall at all, there are guys up to 6'6" that i've heard of graduating BUDs. But the weight yeah if you get that down you'll be fine. It'll be tougher prolly with the height just cuz you're carrying around a bigger body, but, if you want it bad you'll be alright.

Your height is definintely not a problem. BUD/S is considered somewhat of a little mans game, but there have been guys as big/bigger than you that have passed. Like Dave said, you really have to want to be a SEAL. The main thing you are going to need to worry about, along with everyone else no matter their weight etc., is your endurance on the runs and swims. You are going to be running A LOT at BUD/S. Be sure that all that extra weight, fat or muscle, will not slow you down. On the other hand, a little fat will help you with the cold. Just be at a comfortable level before you go. Good luck to you.
